With composites there is still a lot we don’t know.
Vehicles do underneath them. Even concrete and steel girder structures are susceptible if it’s a big enough fire (think tanker truck). Not sure if that’s more of a risk with these composites.
Good point, too. A lot would depend on the toughness or flexibility factor. Kevlar composites are pretty tough and cam be engineered to retain strength with some cracking. At least, these would be easy to repair: just peel off the decking and stick anther girder in.
