Interesting

As someone who’s dealt with alcoholics and opiate addicts and potheads all my life

Only one thing is a constant

They quit when they want and when it’s destroying them if they even quit then

They won’t quit because they are destroying you or others

And they are indeed character flawed

If I could live my life over there would have been no compulsive self absorbed addicts in my life after age 25 at which time you can spot it better

Especially drunks

The worst of the lot

Wow. Great wisdom in that comment.

I am older now so I am very careful to make sure my exercise program doesn't cause physical damage. It ain't that hard.

You are certainly right about how being really fit makes it easy to beat addiction.

Addiction is nothing when faced with serious fitness.

I do extreme cardio and weights (relatively light) every day. Addiction/depression doesn't stand a chance.

Agreed but keep in mind the Will to Meaning must be deep, not superficial. There are many that seem like they having reason for meaning, such as family, top level job, etc, but still become addicts. Even things like family and other responsibility can seem trivial when you deep down find life somewhat futile.

Maybe a good addict predictive tool would be to count the frequency at which someone says “whatever”.

I don’t know, that is too generalized for me.

It’s not that it’s inaccurate or anything, but it does not get to the root cause of the behavior or the solution.

Ahh I share my bed with a 80 lbs and a 70 lbs shepherd.

There’s not a lot of room for me.

Every now and then there boyfriend comes over for a night or two.

He weighs 90 lbs, but luckily for me he prefers the floor.

There’s nothing I love more in this world than German Shepherds.
