. o O (It looked like the car was going towards someone who was walking along the street, I only had seconds to decide if I’d let them kill that person or not...)

Get a good defense attorney and explore all the laws, FL could be like California and they could claim PTSD from previous robberies requires them to be diverted to therapy rather than charged with a crime. (and in California, the judge would be required to allow it and vacate the charge when diversion therapy was completed.)

Reminiscent of (bully Brown) stealing and threatening the store owner at the same time...since he is black it is okay...wonder if video, (Rennie Defoe Jr.) will cause the same unbalanced uproar Browns actions did....Defoe is a common thief....

3 18 packs! Maybe he was thirsty?

He obviously wasn’t going to a BYOB party because it wasn’t his beer.

Remember when criminals were locked away?

Yep and thieves were hung on the spot.

We should publicly shame and flog lesser thieves:

What if you just had some kind of trip cord you could snap up in the doorway as he runs out the door? He’s not going to stop and pick up the beer.

Mehedeun Hasan - My first thought was that he’s Indian, as I know an Indian with a first name close to that. But ‘Hasan’, that’s Islamic. So I think Ed is right.

Both of those would be great for the typical politician and worthless bureaucrat.

You can’t kill to protect your property, or your life savings. Just the left’s way of “redistributing” income, by letting the “oppressed” waltz in and take what is “rightfully” theirs.

“t is ridiculous to assume that unless there is bodily harm, one cannot protect their property or deter thieves, that we have to wait till there is death or injury.”

Easy. Just learn your state’s laws.
In Maryland, it’s OK.
In Virginia, you go to prison.

that isn’t what the video shows. The guy grabbed three packs of beer and walked out the door, didn’t go toward the counter where the employees were. He got in his car and the clerk ran after him dropping his gun then grabbing it and going up to the car as the guy was backing out. Just off camera he shot the guy.

The thief got his reward for being stupid, but the store owner was definitely not standing his ground. Watch the video and there is no direct threat from the thief. He might have shot out the tires, he had the time. Very poor judgement from both parties.

Unfortunately, that would probably make you a defendant in a personal injury lawsuit. With the right jury, you’d win the case. But it would cost you thousands in legal fees to do so.

So even if you win, you lose. Ain’t the law grand?

Rennie Defoe, 43, of Plant City, walked out of the Shell gas station on Combee Road North with three 18-packs of Natural Ice Beer without paying Tuesday.

If you're going to shoot, at least shoot someone taking GOOD beer. /sarc

If the thief had been committing grand theft, or if the crime included a forcible felony such as strong arm robbery, the shooting could have been justifiable—at least to a jury.

There are instances (at least in Florida) where deadly force can be used to protect valuable property, but not in the case of mere petit theft, as it's legally called...
