“I just hope he’s conservative”

He’s been at the swamp critter feed bowl his whole life.

He’ll be a fair judge, but one that upholds federal power.

His viewpoint probably is centered at the same point as Kennedy, but somewhat more focused.

100% establishment

Judge Nappy is a Grade A, A-hole and should be ignored. He has been in the tank since he was banned from Fox news for awhile.

Are you just speculating or has Thomas spoken about retiring within the next 2 years? He's 70, which isn't exactly young, but unless he has some health problems that I'm not aware of, my guess would be that he could probably count on another decade on the bench.

From what I've read, he's interested in retiring. Unlike some on the court, politics isn't his sole motivation for living. He doesn't want to have to work until he's 80+. Personally, I'll miss him on the court, because I think he is the best we currently have there, but he's earned a retirement while he's still able to get around.

Ginsburg and Breyer are probably kicking themselves for not having retired during Obama’s Presidency. Like all other Democrats, they were smugly assured of a Hillary victory in 2016.

The jokes on them - so much for their retirement plans

Napolitano needs to upgrade his abacus to a calculator.
Typical Libertarian who thinks a protest vote matters to anyone.

Its all about the numbers.
Getting to 51...
Getting to 270..
Getting to 5-4...
Getting to 219...

“I think he will retire at the end of the court’s term in 2019. He has made indication he wants to take a 2A case and have a clear SCOTUS ruling in favor of individual gun rights before he retires.”

I hope he does!

Yes, and of all the issues the most important one to me is abortion. K seems good on that level.

I’m thinking Kavanaugh is the new swing vote and we’re all going to be disappointed in him because he is SES and a Bush establishment Republican.
However I was also uneasy about Gorsuch. He is still part of the ECUSA when he had the opportunity in his liberal hometown to leave ECUSA for the Anglican Church and chose not to. No conservative that I know still attends Episcopal church services.
