Three of the teams has never won a World Cup title. England’s last win was in 1966.

In the final next Sunday, it will either be France or Belgium vs Croatia or England.

We’ll know the identity of the World Cup finalists by Wednesday.

The World Cup is the best display of good old-fashioned unabashed nationalism.

That would be a strange sort of racism since the majority of the players on France’s team are black. Even their few white players are diverse with Spanish and German names. Only two ethnic Frenchmen usually start (Giroud and Pavard).

Yeah it’s interesting to me that there’s no “Great Britain” or “UK” team for the World Cup instead.

There is no British team - for historical reasons, England has pride of place as the land that invented football - leading it to become the world’s most popular sport.

That said, it takes nothing away from their superb performance in Russia this summer. They acquitted themselves well.

The smart money for next week is on England.
