Yeah, we used to cut out coffee can lids as hand protectors.
Also at Domino's, I had my car shot with paintballs, and hit by a frozen egg. Left a big dent. It was Halloween, about 4 degrees and snowing. So the egg the kids threw was frozen.

I was trying to look it up but ran into a Google search for “Migrant Rape Epidemic in Germany and the Descent Into Madness” Sept2,2016.
Now I’ll have trouble sleeping. Sorry for all of us.

We had Roman Candle fights. Of our friends, 4 parents had lake houses next to each other with boat houses. We manned the boat docks with an arsenal of Roman Candles. The objective was to make the other guys jump into the water to avoid being hit by a ball. If you went into the water you were out.
The team that had the most, or last, person standing won!
GREAT FUN!
On a personal note: Ben Harned, when around water, always got naked. RIP Ben. You are missed.

What, you never had bottle rocket battles as a kid ?
sheesh
I grew up in SoCal in the 50s. We were lucky to have sparklers. There were some firecrackers smuggled in from Mexico. Didn’t get real fireworks until I moved to Missouri.

Great stories fellas .. hadn't foreseen a memory lane stroll this evenin' but appreciate it .. thanks :-)
It's really really hard to imagine much of that going on in this mess that used to be our country.
And we not only survived just fine, thankyouverymuch, but such was completely unremarkable at the time.

Missouri is right next door to where I was born in
deep southern IL.
Even better supplies were to be had in MO !

This is so common its crazy. I worked on E3 I Fort Worth and every 4th of July they would call in a fireworks violation on Rosedale street at the projects, we would respond and an they would shoot bottle rockets at us from both sides of the rode.. we would go back to the station and and they would call it in again.

I’d like to see a photo showing it blown off. I could
see where it maybe blew a hole in it and oil came out.

when an artillery shell was thrown underneath the truck. Artillery shell? Do they have any idea what a real artillery round would do to a fire truck?
These reporters have no clue whatsoever.

“And we not only survived just fine, thankyouverymuch, but such was completely unremarkable at the time.”
In Texas it was not only considered unremarkable, it was expected.
Thank you for the conversation and great memories.

Easy solution, refuse to respond to violent areas of the city. Problem solved.
To: raybbr
It was a large illegal firework, a large mortar tube type.
It exploded under the truck. As oposed to hundreds of feet in the air.

Wow..So if they'd used one of these I guess the reporters would have said, "An Atom Bomb was thrown under the fire truck".
What a farce.
