“Make sure they are not Ivanka picks.”

Oohhhh... I hadn’t thought of that. Scares me a little.

“I didn’t know Lee voted for McMuffin.”

I read that he voted against Trump in the General Election, and was quite mouthy about it.

Since the mid-term elections are coming up, the Democrats will concentrate on terrorizing women into believing that their reproductive rights will be completely destroyed and they will be forced to get abortions in Calcutta-like back alleys if a Conservative justice is appointed.

So the best choice for a Trump nominee would be the best candidate available with the scantiest record on abortion.

After that it will be important to choose someone who can perform well, who can win hearts and minds among Americans during the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings.

The hearings will be theater. Ninety-nine percent of Americans probably could not name a single justice on the Supreme Court, but they know the type of people they like and respect.

If the Democrats attack and then block the appointment of a nominee Americans like, many of those Americans will be angry and go to the polls to elect Republicans in November so that Donald Trump’s next appointee won’t have to go through the same obstacle course as the person to be nominated in a few weeks.

I’m less concerned about Mike Lee turning into another David Souter than I would be someone else on that list whom I don’t know. Mike has been a reliable ally in the Senate since Trump has been elected unlike Flake, Corker and the nearly dead guy. He’ll be rock solid in his hearings and probably serve on the court probably for at least another 35 years.

I don’t like Lee’s antics at the convention either, but I’m more interested in solidifying the court for the next several decades than I am in settling scores.

I’d take a Jeanne Kirkpatrick....

Loved Jeanne Kirkpatrick and always thought she would have made a great President!

Women have been nothing but a disaster in the USSC.

Trump will tease Lee just like he pretended to interview the pos Romney for SOS.

I still smile to myself whenever I’m reminded of that.

I hope he chooses a man. It will be an easy confirmation. There are 3 women on the court, that is enough IMO. He replaced Scalia with another man, he should do the same now. He’ll have Ginsberg soon enough and he can put forth a woman. If he picks a woman now when Ginsburg goes the women will scream for 4 women on the court. Ginsburg must be pretty bummed, she thought Hillary would replace her. She’ll never last to see another Dem president.

Trump knows when someone asks for the appointment, he doesn’t get it. Especially with Lee. He knows Lee’s reason for wanting the job is so he can backstab Trump.

I hope he learned his lesson with Sessions. He wasn’t campaigning with Trump. He was campaigning for the AG job.

Mike Lee isn’t on the “long list,” let alone the short list.

Don’t get concerned.

Each of the five finalists is VERY good. Each has strengths, and I think the oldest is 51, while Barrett is 46.

Each except Kavanaugh & Kethledge will put severe pressure on a blue state D to vote for.

My source says the CONFIRMATION (not “vote”) will occur before Sept. 15. He hasn’t been wrong yet.

Historically, true. Is it possible that there’s a strict pro-constitution judge that’s female, that won’t abuse their power or try to subvert the law? Maybe.
It’s possible, but the thought of another female who votes like the other females on the court, fills me with dread.

Sandra Day O’Connor did a pretty good job.

Not really. She was a moderate similar to Anthony Kennedy.

Wouldn’t it be a hoot if DJT were to nominate a young,*absolutely* conservative, black woman to SCOTUS! “Progressives” would commit mass suicide!
