There was a huge spike in oil prices and Venezuela has huge amounts of oil. There is literally no amount of stupidity that could have ruined that for a little while at least. Other oil exporters that weren’t insane made huge piles of cash and built up some very large nest eggs for themselves to cushion against periods of low oil prices in the future.

Thanks; it already occurred in my county where they’ve filled rustbelt urban areas abandoned by Anglo Dems. They simply vote themselves larger and larger pieces of Americans’ paychecks - and now even liberal Anglos are fleeing their costs.
Certainly if she actually thinks we can go to one hundred percent “renewable” energy sources in seventeen years she envisions something that I can only consider impossible at this point, barring some kind of Nicola Tesla level discovery. On the other hand she worries me, she is young, decent looking without a lot of makeup and seems rather well spoken. She may succeed in rousing a lot of leftists to make trouble. I only hope that a few more years of life may introduce her to reality. She apparently dwells in fantasy land now.

Does she have a Republican opponent in the general election? Even given the hard-left orientation of the district, might that opponent win by appealing to the common sense of the voters? (The district has elected Republicans in the not too distant past [1980s-early 1990s], although it has been redistricted since then.)
