He held out on confirmation of Merrick Garland. If he let that go through, the rulings would have gone the other way.
The Rinos have to understand that the Left hates them too. The Bushies and Mclame have very little popular base of support. Ryan and McConnell can chum around with Chuck U Schemer and Nazi Pelousy, but the leftist base has demonstrated that they will use violence against Rinos.
The Rinos will have to choose sides. If they continue to make nice with the lefties, it won’t help them as things heat up. This incident should give McConnell pause.
Mitch is clueless .
Mazzoli. The connection is important. Rep. Mazzoli was a cheap screw who simply signed onto the "Simpson-Mazzoli Immigration Reform and Control Act" - don't forget that Alan Simpson sired this pos and Ronaldus Magnus signed it.
The new bill says, hey, we must go back to the reasoning behind Simpson-Mazzoli and simply look at it to reflect the current times.
The new bill says, Simpson-Mazzoli was flawed beyond repair BUT; the US is always for LEGAL immigration - we always have been, we always will be.
Sooooo, now the new bill -- promulgated by a reliable Congressman and seconded in the Senate -- will focus on a mild expansion of LEGAL immigration.
Are you all following me? Do you get it?
President Trump has an opportunity to turn the focus onto LEGAL immigration. The new Congressional bill will (mildly) expand the United States willingness to accommodate LEGAL immigration...the focus point will be, if you're already standing in line as a LEGAL immigrant, wherever you are from, then we're going to (mildly) enhance your timeline ... we're going to allow one- or two-hundred thousand extra LEGAL immigrants per year, and maybe (mildly) get you sworn in a few months sooner.
Then we have Trump meeting with an induction class of LEGAL immigrants who benefited from HIS NEW enhanced timeline, somewhere between Labor Day and his bigazz military parade in early November.
This allows for a resolution that the President can stand on; at the same time it kicks the stool right out from under these goddamn Leftists who realize that the only new Democrat voters they are getting in the next 20 years are the ones they fantasize they can create out of amnesty.
I'm with Rush on this. I now oppose Liberals and Leftists strictly on principle -- there is no dealing with them, they must be defeated, and my immigration plan is foolproof.
Violence from the left is coming soon.
Remember the guy who was fired up by lies from the splc, who almost killed someone. And the assassination attempt that caused life changing injuries at a congressional baseball game. Before I quit Facebook largely for good, I saw friends of leftist friends (old college friend leftist). Openly advocating violence. They hate us, have a head full of lies primed by the media. I don’t doubt it is coming. They think we are ‘fair game” and want to win through non democratic means.
But for McConnell, Justice Garland would have just made all of those 5-4 decisions have gone the other way. President Trump would have had no opportunity to make an appointment to begin with because there would have been no vacancy - Gorsuch would not be on the Court. And Gorsuch's appointment came far earlier in Trump's term than 6 months, and McConnell was hardly "dragged kicking and screaming" - he took it head on, used the nuclear option to overcome the Democrat efforts to block him from a vote, and he was on the Court. That is reality. Your comments on this thread are a complete fictional account of what occurred. For all of his other misgivings, McConnell handled that one completely right and it was a very politically risky move at the time that paid off in the end.
Complete and utter BS. McConnell did what he did out of fear of Trump.
Glad what he did, but I give 100% credit for it to the President. McConnell is a weak, evil man, easily led around by stronger men.
Apparently.
I have no knowledge of recent history? So tell me: what major accomplishments did McConnell do when he first became Senate Majority leader under Obama, until Trump's Presidency?
I remember this, do you?
McConnell is a weak, evil SOB who wants to be Minority Leader again so he can have the perks without being expected to to actually have to DO things. He wants to go back to saying "If we only had the Senate...". Mostly, he desperately wanted Trump gone six months after the Inauguration and was counting on Mueller et. al. to accomplish this. Too bad for him, that didn't work out for the UniParty's #1 butt boy.
A studied ignorance I see.
And yours is invincibly. But by all means, please keep on believing in the evil. I'm sure, like the big Lottery, you will someday win!
Not that you will have the courage to answer this question, but suppose McConnell had caved to all the pressure he was receiving and let Obama nominate a Justice.
How do you think this case would have been decided?
How do you think this case would have been decided?
Not that I'm particularly interested in playing your games any further, but you obviously have no knowledge of how things go inside the beltway. McConnell was fully expecting Clinton to win the presidency and he and Obama felt no need to pursue the case much beyond the 2016 election.
See how it goes?
Heck, I saw how it goes even before you answered.
I knew you had no courage
I tire of you.
You obviously are a lover of the Washington Establishment. I on the other hand, fully support President Trump and his efforts to drive the evil bastards out of power.
I have courage, you fool. You are the one hugging the kakistoctracy. Enjoy your delusions!
If you have so much courage, what caused you to avoid answering my simple question?
I’ll tell you why, it would show that you are wrong on Mitch McConnell’s courage in the face of the Obama Administration over the issue of Supreme Court Justices.
For the weasel that he is, the credit for these rulings yesterday and today the long and large part to Mitch McConnell.
