Thanks for the ping.
Congress leaks. I guess everyone here forgot that if Nunes gets something, Schifty gets it.
If Schifty gets it, all the perps get it.
I guess many people here want the STYLE of “arresting” people without any substance of ever convicting anyone.
If there is one thing we’ve learned about Trump he is the exact opposite of “style over substance.” He is ALL substance, little conventional style.
DOJ told Nunes and others, no, you don’t get stuff cuz you leak and we have cases to make.
Here is the Constitutional reality: Congress has NO “oversight” over DOJ or any other executive branch EXCEPT through two powers:
1) Impeachment/contempt
2) Funding
The former requires seven steps, and about a year, and the cooperation of the senate. Even if successful . . . wait for it . . . Congress cannot do anything to someone charged with contempt unless they actually DO something. Talking in riddles? No. I’m referring to the fact that Eric Holder was cited for contempt of Congress. Then? See the point?
Congress had a chance to show it had real authority under Zero by shutting down government until Holder resigned. It didn’t. It sure isn’t going to do that under Trump.
As for #2? Congress just passed a budget in January. The Senate said it won’t even work on another budget this year.
So Congress has until 2020 to withhold funding to “make” DOJ do what it wants.
Even if you think DOJ is not doing what it should you have only congress under Zero to blame for NOT using the powers it had when it could. Now it has no power at all. These are meaningless whining threats.
