China is the top export and import destination for both North and South Korea, It dwarfs all others.
So it will have much influence even with a united Korea.
Frankly I can’t see how they can lose. The fools are such crude and clomsy diplomats they may find a way though.
Yeah, I think “bringing the boys home” from Korea is a big temptation for Trump. Tough to do soon though.
I disagree. He can offer Kim a nuclear free prosperous North Korea, and he gets to be dictator for life. Unity between North and South Korea is decades away. But this is a damn good start.
Absolutely. China is already using thousands of NK workers in China. President Trump hurt Chinese commerce by signing an executive order last year banning Chinese products made with NK workers. China would like that problem to go away, as they want the cheap NK labor.
Dipping the carrot in sugar.....

“The Boys” won’t be coming home; they’ll be moving to Japan is the buzz I’ve heard. (very delicate situation)
Sensible but Japan would have difficulty hosting a large forcs. They’re crowded enough already.
Would like to see them move to Vietnam, but ...
Removing the last US forces from the Asia mainland would be a big soccess for China. I think we’d have to see big improvement in their behavior before we acquiesced.
.
Japan wants them, but with tight controls.
I don’t see how a tank/infantry force could train effectively there. Or what it would add to Japan’s security. Our naval forces there guarantee our commitment to their defense already.
I can see them wanting our missile/ anti-missile forces from Korea.
It says a lot for our military that Japan considers them good guests. It’s not easy keeping a bunch uf lonely young guys from causing trouble.
.
Its not infantry that anyone is concerned about, its missiles, and satelite tracking/communications.
