Historians regard the break up of the USSR as peaceful. Amazingly so. I agree.
Shortly thereafter, Western Virginia held its own sessesiinisr convention and cesseded from the State !
Led by Virginia’s John S. Carlile (shown) of Clarksburg, western delegates marched out of the Secession Convention, vowing to form a state government loyal to the Union.
Many of these delegates called for a pro-Union convention, which met in Wheeling on May 13, 1861. Ten days later a majority of Virginia voters approved the Ordinance of Secession. Following a Union victory at the Battle of Philippi and the subsequent occupation of northwestern Virginia by General George B. McClellan, the Second Wheeling Convention met between June 11 and June 25, 1861.
On October 24 of that year, residents of 39 counties in western Virginia approved the formation of a new Unionist state. The accuracy of these election results has been questioned, since Union troops were camped out at many of the polls to prevent Confederate sympathizers from voting.
That was mainly along ethnic/nationality lines.
That would foreshadow the American southwest breaking off, and, with Hispanics everywhere now, ethnic conflict throughout the rest of the US (also occurring in the former USSR where there are ethnic overlaps).
Wow, what a well thought out, discerning and intelligent comment.
“you advacated violence. You are past intelligence and into stupid. You should go outside and breath in the fresh air.”
You should go inside a library and read a history book. The union was held together using violence.
Dang General, irony is lost on y’all, ain’t it?
If a state wishes to leave and votes democratically to do so....let them go. To be honest, I’d much rather several states would go. Some states probably need to hive off parts. For example, in my native Florida - Dade, Palm Beach and Broward counties absolutely do not match the other 64 counties in the state. Let them go.
There need be no threats, no force and no violence. At this point, I just don’t think the Progressive Socialists are compatible with the rest of America.
