Sessions wasn’t invited?
IMO, this meeting isn’t about looking into possible investigations. It’s an opportunity to discuss ongoing investigations and how to proceed from here. I believe most of the investigations are close to done. Arrests and prosecutions are up next but it isn’t going to be pretty. The left is going to go ape shit crazy. Expect riots, etc. Get ready to stand and defend our president.
If the DOJ doesn’t investigate any other alphabet agency, and POTUS thinks it needs doing, POTUS WILL find a way, even if it means firing someone and replacing them with someone else that will then investigate said agency.
Are you basing your contribution on the summation that Sessions is a black hat?
I think that many FR contributors are going to be proved wrong in their thinking that AG Sessions is somehow playing for the other team.
If there is a second special counsel, rest assured that there will be a prosecutor assigned to investigate any and all wrong doing uncovered by said counsel.
The DOJ IG’s domain only covers the DOJ, just like the CIA’s IG (yes, they have one) covers the CIA. And so on. The CIA IG can’t investigate DOJ abuses, and vice versa.
Trump can order Sessions to investigate ALL the alphabet agencies under The Donald for the Sabotage Conspiracy. But the IG is limited to just the doj. Rosenstein pulled a stunt. I’m sure he is actively opposing Trump and Congress.
Sessions (not Rosenstein) SHOULD run the investigation. Highly doubtful he would, or at least to any useful effect.
Sessions a Black Hat? I don’t think so. Personally, I think he’s not very bright, easily played, hates conflict, and is butthurt from Trump. Stubborn, plays by his own rules, not a team player. Passive aggressively resisting investigating anything regarding the Conspiracy.
Regardless of the reason, he is disfunctional. Only solution is to remove him AND Rosenstein, get them both to resign, or new Special Counsel.
We. Need. A. Second. Special. Counsel. NOW!!!!
Of course not, he’s recused.
