Iron cross predates the national socialist era in Germany.
I believe I read something about it first being used/introduced in the early 1800s then modified to meet the nazi era or maybe earlier during the war to end all wars. Great for socialist democrats to wear around I guess.
Suffice to say that this deranged kid wasn't motivated by any well thought-out political ideology. Most of the insignias were just attention-getting acts of rebellion. When those failed, he took it to the next level.
Maybe my memory is bad, but i dont remember Russia fighting on the side of the nazis for half of WWII. I do remember a non aggression pact that they signed, then Hitler broke, but never fighting on the side.
Bkmrk.
They jointly invaded Poland!
That hammer and sickle thing, isn’t that The New York Times logo?
No offense to the polish folks here, but want that part of the pact?, and i dont think the Russians actually engaged any Allied forces during that time. But i could be very wrong.
I believe so, part of the agreement was a joint operation to divide Poland.
Near the end of the war I remember reading about this weird battle in I think eastern Germany (East Prussia maybe!) where Allied POWs after witnessing Soviet atrocities agreed to be armed and fight Russians along side a remnant German garrison. I don’t remember how it ended. Likely not well! Some surprising high number of Allied POWs in camps overrun by the Red Army never returned and it was never explained.
The Soviet Union invaded Poland within the month after Sept 1, 1939. They and Nazi Germany had a plan in place to divide up eastern Europe as long as the Soviets supplied Nazi Germany with various raw materials. The fact that Hitler double-crossed them does nothing to detract from the fact that they were ideological sympaticos.
And we're supposed to take this guy seriously?
If the Confederate flag, confederate statues, Tom Sawyer books, and other things can be banned, why can’t the public display of all things communist be banned as well.
Anyone wearing, or displaying these symbols should be arrested...or at least, investigated and given mental tests, at least.
Seems to be a common thread amongst these shooters.
The Russians invaded the eastern half of Poland while the Polish Army was engaged with the Germans in the West. The Russo-German pact was the proximate cause of the Polish invasion in 1939.
Russia arrested Polish officers and subsequently murdered them at Katyn. Russia also provided iron and especially oil to Germany from 1939 to the German invasion in 1941.
In the USA Communists activists lobbied for neutrality with Germany until Mother Russia was invaded. So maybe not fighting for "half" the war, but definitely allied with Germany and definitely with blood on their hands.
The Poles were allies. When they attacked the Poles they attacked Allied Forces.
I’m surprised they released this info on leftist symbolism used by the shooter. The FBI usually is silent if it’s not a neo-nazi or Republican (i.e.Trump supporter).
the USSR NEVER fought on the side of the Nazis during WWII; they were, however, in effect neutral based on their secret non-aggression pact with Hitler until Hitler invaded the USSR in June 1941. Many believe Stalin knew all along that Hitler would eventually invade the USSR and that the pact was simply to buy time to build their military ...
Nonsense.
The German Nazis and Russian Communists had a common enemy in the early moments of WWII and it was the Poles. Attacking the Poles together was the same as fighting together.
Stalin was the MOST surprised man in the world when Hitler turned against him. The Russians didn’t agree to the Non-Aggression Treaty to buy time and were completely caught off guard by the German invasion.
The USSR never fought for the Third Reich. The Non Aggression pact signed in1939 gave Germany to the green light to attack Poland. The USSR was never an ally of Germany. Up until midnight before the invasion of Poland, they were involved with commerce. The last train from the USSR past into Germany.
Soviet POWs were given the opportunity to fight for Third Reich. A division of these POWs plus a brigade of Cossack Calvary were formed and fought for the Nazis. It was that or starve to death.
