They can’t get the parts they need, some of which do come from US companies, which are now prohibited from supplying ZTE, on pain of criminal and financial penalties. It’s as if someone had to build a wood frame house without wood. These ZTE bozos seemed not to understand that while doing business stateside is easy because of the level playing field and the fact that you don’t have to pay anyone off (which lobbying isn’t), the rules are enforced, and you ignore them at your peril. The price of ZTE doing business in the US was compliance on Iran and North Korean sanctions. They played with fire and got burnt.
