The writer is an optimist.

Me, I’m much more cynical.

The "giggles" reflect the depth of their intellectual pursuits and, in some ways, the lack of rigor and discipline which a search for truth would impose on their journalistic efforts.

Great article which lays out for our timid republicans the reason why they had better find some courage and start fighting. At the moment I am more angry at republicans than I am at democrats.

Republicans have a leader, a role model as to how to get things accomplished and all they have done is either oppose Trump based on ego, or allowed a bogus investigation to hamper him.

Republicans: Step up or step out! No more excuses!

I think Sessions will only start taking this seriously if the House starts considering a bill to impeach Rosenstein, who seems to have some kind of Svengali hold over Sessions.

Just submitting such a bill could make Sessions panic, but actually more likely make him whine like a little girl.

Of course, the senate would never vote to convict Rosenstein and remove him from office, but impeachment would be more than enough excuse for President Trump to remove him.

And if Sessions went so far as to threaten to resign over it, then there should be no problem in showing him the door as well.

And the next Attorney General should be a nightmare to both Democrats and Republican liberals. Issuing indictments like candy on Halloween.

Comey's career is ruined. He can grin at the unfunny Colbert, and Colbert can grin back, but the truth is the truth - Comey's reputation was atomized by Jim's own actions. Trump merely ripped the veil off the FBI altar.

The big fellas radio program suggested Come thought Hillary would be the winner when he ‘reopened’ the investigation a week b4 election day. I think he was covering his ass.

"I think Sessions will only start taking this seriously if the House starts considering a bill to impeach Rosenstein, who seems to have some kind of Svengali hold over Sessions."

Or simply promote Sessions to SCOTUS ... hear me out, FReepers - what better to have a man so easily cowed, than to be under the thumb of Alito & Gorsuch. Plus he would breeze through confirmation.

Then find Atilla The Hun and make him the next AG. Hells bells I'll do it under the right terms.

"I think he was covering his ass."

Agreed! Comey was fully aware of the 'insurance policy' conversation. That last letter was straight-up estoppel!

‘The writer is an optimist.’

Understatement.

Sessions is old. Trump’s SC apts should be young and also NON-Senators. Senators go with the flow. The pressure on the SC to do what the MSM wants is already intense. The last thing we need is a person conditioned to hide in a crowd of 100 elitists.

In which ‘bath salts,’ is defined as, ‘reality.’

Come(y) thought Hillary would be the winner when he ‘reopened’ the investigation a week b4 election day. I think he was covering his ass.

I don't get it. If Comey thought Hillary would win, why would he risk alienating her even more by reopening the investigation?

He was exposing himself to even more of Hillary's wrath, coupled with the power of the presidency.

Or maybe he was protecting himself from something else?

Please elaborate.

Maybe. It is a very narrow window, but I have some subtle hopes as to the discovery that can be done in this new lawsuit brought by the DNC against the Trump campaign, the Russians, WikiLeaks, and Yosemite Sam. This is a way maybe that the truth can be gotten out that bypasses Sessions. And I believe Sessions has to be bypassed. I don’t think that he can be fired. I don’t think that Rosenstein can be fired. But if it is true what Mark Levin said that discovery in an exceptionally vicious form can be mounted in response to this lawsuit, and if it is also true that the Trump side can refuse to dismiss the case once they turn up the heat, there is the potential for some serious kimono opening, should the Trump team take the effort seriously. It will be very expensive and very lengthy. But it will be better than working with Sessions who seems to fall asleep in the middle of the third inning.

Nothing wrong with being an optimist whatsoever.

Plus, I hope he turns out to be right.

Comey’s description is that he was pre-emptively protecting her legitimacy and legacy. By addressing and dismissing it before the election it could be considered a settled matter.
