It would not surprise me if this is a case perceived ‘ownership’ of the EPA by the LEFT and their environment allies. Predecessors in this office were almost all either fellow travelers or environmentalist-leaning RINOs who let the apparatchiks in the EPA bureaucracy grow their power through regulatory expansion and ‘losing’ court fights with the Sierra Club and the like.
An on-going and perpetual problem with the logical brief that underpins the EPA, is that the only way to really protect the environment is to EXCLUDE HUMAN BEINGS to the maximum extant possible. The people attracted to working for this agency are, IMHO, likely to be inclined to the zealous side of this argument and there is little to restrict their actions from within their operations.
Thus to the like-minded, both with-in and with-out the EPA, Administrator Scott Pruitt is an existential danger of opening files and showing odorous schemes and motivations. Thus, like Bill, he must be killed!

The new gas cans won’t even work on a farm tractor, there is nothing for the spout to press on.
You can now buy 5 gal gas cans that work at TSC stores, but you have to buy $10 spout and drill a hole for a vent. They work damn good only cost about $30 with the new spout included.

I understand, appreciate, and agree with your view. However, most conservatives, knowing that they mean no harm, are unprepared and unwarned that they are about to be attacked. The biggest and most awesome fighter in the world can be taken out if he is unprepared for an attack. The woman I was thinking of who assaulted a boy for wearing a MAGA hat got caught and punished. But that is very much the exception.
I was knocked unconscious twice in actual high school riots even though I was on alert. (Today it is called The Knockout Game. Then, it was just a hit and run assault.) It’s the rare event where you see the assault coming and can defend yourself.
