So you replace a large fossil fuel burning main engine with a large fossil fuel burning generator plus a ton of batteries and think you’re coming out ahead? That’s insane.

Actually a destroyer on batteries would be very quiet and make passive sonar ops way easier. I approve.

USD Constitution is wind powered. And is the only USN ship to have sunk an enemy vessel in combat. Several, actually. May be the only USN ship to have actually been in combat actually fighting an enemy ship.
