I appreciate this being posted. I’m on vacation with limited internet access and this is the 1st I’ve heard of it.

...I think the “rationale” is very clear. If they’re coming in the thousands, like a sea of excrement, something needs to done.
At the risk of sounding overly militaristic for our dear “friends” on the extreme Left, the primary job of the military is to prevent the overthrow of our government by out side forces, which, OBTW does include invasion by parties disguised as civilians. I do not use the term “overthrow” lightly, because that is exactly what they would like to do - destroy us from the inside by making the U.S. into the same kind of socialist hell-hole they just came from. Which is, of course, in line with the Democrats’ basic plan.
If this is another Bush or Obama gimmick deal...temporary Nat’l Guard folks or some four-month deployment deal....then it’ll fail like the other two.
Long-term, we are better off to create another Coast Guard-like organization...call it ‘Border Guard’, and put up around fifteen installations along the border with 2,000 personnel assigned to each. Make it a permanent job, and move the border patrol folks into the job of managing the roads crossing the border, and handling the picked-up border crossing folks that the military picked up each day.

There’s no reason for any US President to be apologetic about that move.
Where is it written that we may NOT defend our OWN borders?
It’s natural, expected and necessary so there should be no debate.
Why are the globalist leftist naysayers complaining if it isn’t going to be effective? Me thinks they doth protest too much.
Post sentries and authorize deadly force. Once you wax 10 or 20 thousand, they’ll get the message.
America has to take a stand somewhere to stop the DNC’s “blue wave” from south of the border. Those four and five hundred pound walkers heading this way are going to put a serious dent in our food stamp programs.
How will “guarding” the border even matter if these persons can claim “asylum” and then be released into the USA?
The guarding will take place on the Mexican side of the border
I believe you are right. Since our laws prohibit military guarding our OWN border, step across the line and to hell with Mehico. Let the Border Patrol take care of the International crossings like crossing guards and set up the Abrams across the border along with enough other small arms to take out anyone that roles a tortilla towards them.
If he does it, it’s about time. I attended an anti illegal alien rally at the Federal building at the West Los Angeles facility in 1996. There were about two hundred people there and I went because the week before an elderly couple had been beaten by some leftist thugs at a similar rally. The event was proceeding peacefully when all of a sudden four busloads of counter protesters showed up and all hell broke loose. You never saw a more vicious group of people with gnashing of teeth, screaming, threatening and so on. And on every one of their t- shirts was printed “international communist worker’s party”.I have to give the L.A. county sheriffs at that time credit because they kept a strong line separating the groups. That day was very educational. So from that day on everything boils down to two things, one people trying to live the right way and the commies trying to take that right away.
What good is the military and the billions we spend on it if we cannot use them to defend the country?

“Plans”. I want to know when and how many. Better yet, that troops are arriving. Wasn’t Trump the one that said he didn’t like telegraphing moves? Why is he doing so now unless this is the move, “plan”. Will he send a few thousand like Bush Junior and Obama or will he send 10s of thousands and even hundreds of thousands to really secure the border? I’m waiting.
Maybe we occupy northern Mexico instead? Set up safe areas to repatriate Mexicans now in the US, and to stop these newest invaders? Not much Mexico could do about it.
