At Christmas I wanted to buy a new smart watch for my wife. I went to the 3 local retailers that would carry it and none of them had it.
Ordered from Amazon and had it in 36 hours to my door.
Last week I needed a couple of bike inner tubes with presta valves (not uncommon). Went to 2 Walmarts, Dick’s, and the local bike shop. None had it.
Ordered from Amazon.
Although anecdotal, I’m pretty much done driving around town and wasting 2 hours to find what I need when I can order it at work and have it delivered to my house.
No, I’m not boycotting Amazon, and I’ll smile brightly thinking of you when I make my next purchase.
As do I. BUT I refuse to spend my money at stores that have a 50% mark up on their product because they are the only game in town. They can shutter their windows as far as I am concerned.
For instance. Fuel in our small town with population of 1800 people with 6 fuel stations is 35 cents higher than a town 15 miles away with roughly the same population AND less stations. I will make a trip there to refuel planned around a lumber yard visit, feed store stop and such. I will be damned if I will be swindled out of the extra cost per gallon.
