All organizations that are not actually right-wing will over time become left-wing. I cite as supporting evidence the ACLU, the Ford Foundation, and the Episcopal Church. The reason is, of course, that people who staff such bodies tend to be the sort who don't like private profit, business, making money, the current organization of society, and, by extension, the Western world. At which point Michels's Iron Law of Oligarchy takes over — and the rest follows.The best example of O’Sullivan’s Law is journalism. The motive of the journalist is to persuade, and to be looked up to as a leader. The easiest way to attract attention is with bad news, so journalists promote and deliver bad news. Journalists know that they do that; it’s in Journalism 101. Journalists also claim to be objective, as a way to promote their own influence. But of course, that can only be true if negativity (their rice bowl, bad news) is objectivity. Is that true? Only a cynic can believe it.So journalism is cynical toward society, and negative towards government only in the sense that it blames government for not doing enough to correct the “evil” of society. That is, journalism proclaims itself to be objective but the motivation of journalists drives socialism as the default position.
