The people inside are basically warehoused, living on the government dime. Their lives are useless. They contribute nothing to society (unless they manage to escape, as I did, by joining the military for example).
It's sad and very bleak. Very Dickensian.
Government housing is a big mistake. People that live there have no respect for the property. They build these huge complexes with the best of intentions but they quickly fall into disrepair as the drugs, the graffiti and the crime settle in.
Home ownership was the greatest milestone of my life.
I learned to respect and care for property. And improve it.
As I improved my property, I was able to sell it at a profit and move to a better place. My wife and I repeated that cycle several times. Now we live among the wealthy. Our neighbors are doctors, lawyers and CEOs. Those neighbors would be shocked if they knew where we came from. We have no trust fund. No inheritances. Just a desire to live the American dream. And we made it.
Housing projects suck. Young people who live there must escape at all costs or their lives will be for nothing. I suggest the military.
That sounds pretty accurate...
Government has made it easy in poverty. Built a large needy population.
And NYC has the balls to tell me I need to pay more for their citizens? NOPE!
“In Russia one would have to flee to London to avoid prison.”
Vlad has a way of dealing with them.
Just build some new apartments.
They should tax the drug deals that take place there. Be back in the black in no time.
Yes. I get $142,045.45 per apartment.
$142000 per. My house cost less.
