How many elections have we been hearing about touch screen systems switching votes? So why are they still allowed by law? After all, every vote counts.

Not mention the other known ways these systems can be cheated without leaving a trail.

Lawsuit: 100,000 noncitizens registered to vote in Pennsylvania

By Stephen Dinan - The Washington Times - Monday, February 26, 2018

More than 100,000 noncitizens are registered to vote in Pennsylvania alone, according to testimony submitted Monday in a lawsuit demanding the state come clean about the extent of its problems.

The Public Interest Legal Foundation, which has identified similar noncitizen voting problems in studies of Virginia and New Jersey, said Pennsylvania officials have admitted noncitizens have been registering and voting in the state “for decades.”

But state officials have stonewalled PILF requests for access to the data that could expose the problem, the group says in a lawsuit filed in federal court in Harrisburg.

“For months, Pennsylvania bureaucrats have concealed facts about noncitizens registering and voting — that ends today,” PILF President and General Counsel J. Christian Adams said.

He said Pennsylvania had already admitted to a “glitch” dating back to the 1990s that had allowed noncitizens applying to renew driver’s licenses to be offered the chance to register to vote. Mr. Adams said he now wants to find out how bad the problem is overall.

Pennsylvania officials wouldn’t respond to the lawsuit, nor to the 100,000 noncitizen number.

“We’re not going to comment on anything related to litigation,” said Wanda Murren, director of communications and press at the Pennsylvania Department of State.

The 100,000 number cited in the lawsuit comes from testimony given by Philadelphia Commissioner Al Schmidt, who revealed the glitch in the state motor vehicle bureau’s systems that prompted noncitizens to register to vote.

Mr. Schmidt didn’t respond to an email seeking comment.

While Pennsylvania refused PILF record requests, the group did manage to obtain data from some counties, and found several curious cases.

One man, Felipe Rojas-Orta, canceled his registration last year, filing a handwritten note saying he was not a citizen. He had, however, registered as a Democrat and voted in three separate elections, including most recently 2016, the year of the presidential race.

A woman had her registration canceled in 2006 as a noncitizen, yet re-registered to vote twice — and cast ballots in some elections. That woman, a registered Democrat, is still active in the system, the lawsuit says.

Yet another woman voted in 2008 and 2012, had her registration canceled in 2014 because she wasn’t a citizen, then reregistered and voted in 2016, according to documents filed in court. She was registered as a Democrat.

The federal “motor-voter” law requires states to make voter registration available at motor vehicle bureaus, but also pushes states to try to keep their voter rolls clean. Under the law, private parties can sue to press states to perform the cleansing.

Pennsylvania officials repeatedly refused requests under the law, according to the lawsuit. The state would only let the PILF look at records related to voters stripped from the rolls because of death or change of residence.

The PILF says that’s a misreading of the law.

The group has released reports in the past detailing more than 1,000 noncitizens registered to vote in New Jersey and more than 5,500 registered in Virginia. Roughly a third of those from Virginia actually cast ballots.

The numbers only include people whose registration was canceled because they later said they weren’t citizens, and thus ineligible to vote. Analysts say it’s difficult to figure out how many others are registered but never discovered because they don’t self-report.

President Trump’s voter integrity commission was supposed to try to get a broader handle on that question by checking voter rolls against government databases. But Mr. Trump disbanded the commission amid a series of lawsuits and questions over the panel’s activities.

The far left always runs middle of the road to get to Congress and unload their socialism.

Yeah, and they get their asses handed to them when they turn socialist.

It's not their fault the Republican has all the warmth and personality of bread mold.

“Absentee ballots? That’s one of the Dummycraps specialty of cheating”.......

The outcome will depend of how many military votes are found, hopefully in time to be counted. Then again, there are those bags full of illegal votes hiding........’er forgotten in someone’s car trunk.

Do they have a % of eligible voters that deigned to turn out for this thing yet? I seem to recall they predicted 30% which would be 10% less than the average off-year election of 40% or so eligible voter turnout.

I dont trust democrats as far as I can throw them. He will almost certainly get in the fold for Pelosi in DC, I can’t think of a single Democrat who has not gotten on board with her.

Who said I supported Democrats?

I'm saying if the Republicans would have stuck to their guns and implemented Trump's agenda, none of this would be happening.

Sorry, but this election was lost by message, not execution. THey didn’t lose because Obamacare wasn’t repealed, they lost because they ran a Rove based race in a Post Trump World!

The messaging never ever was targeted at the Trump I and D crossover voters who gave the President the rust belt... Not once did they attempt to reach those voters, and motivate them to turn out... the message of this race was the same tired things they had done for the last 15 years that didn’t work.. red meat for the reliable R voters, and NOTHING to reach or motivate ANYONE ELSE!!!!

This campaign was an example of GROSS INCOMPETENCE and POLITICAL MALPRACTICE across the entire GOP ecosphere!!!!

Anyone in a position of decision making on message at ALL OF THE PACs, RNCC, VARIOUS COMMITTEES ETC that put out ads for this race should ALL BE SUMMARILY FIRED!!!! This should have never been closer than 8 points, even with a less than ideal candidate.. instead it is a loss...

The line workers worked harder than I have ever seen here... they should hold their heads high.. the people who were making the decisions around messaging should all hang their heads in SHAME!!! They should NEVER EVER get a paycheck in politics again... this was utterly inexcusable.

This was the equivalent of a pro ball player saying I didn’t know I was supposed to hit the ball after watching 3 called strike floaters up the middle.

After that epic rant, I probably shouldn't tell you about the "Lamb is pro-Second Amendment" mailer ads that a PAC affiliated with the Republicans sent out...    winking face

This wasn’t lost by a mailer.... This was lost by bad messaging through the entire campaign by EVERYONE involved.

The campaign message was red meat for the base from the get go with nothing else.. it is the kind of campaign you run in a deep red district when you want to motivate turnout... it was NOT the kind of campaign that was EVER going to motivate and turn out the TRUMP I and D voters...which is who they needed to turn out to win!!!

Here’s the simple calculus that should have been visible to anyone with half a brain.

Democrat Base and Trump haters are motivated, they are going to crawl over glass to vote. To beat this back you need to motivate those TRUMP/MAGA voters beyond the republican base to turn out.. you need to reach out to them, get them emotionally invested and turn out! The messaging in this race, delivered across the board, from the Saccone campaign all the way up to the RNCC/RNC/ national GOP committees and pacs was NEVER anything that would speak to these people... not once...

This election was a loss, because of abject incompetence throughout the entire GOP ecosphere!

There is no doubt that if this is the game plan for the fall, the GOP will lose the house. This was an easily winnable district for the GOP, and they blew it, across the board. Incompetence is the politest word I can use to describe everyone involved with the messaging of this race.

When the R candidate is running around the last few days of the campaign saying, repeatedly...

“I was Trump before Trump”.... that ought to tell you all you need to know about how badly this race was messaged.

Failure to repeal Obamacare or other legislative failures are not why this race was lost... this race was lost because of gross incompetence on messaging. The entire GOP ecosphere NEVER reached out to the Trump I and D voters who gave Trump the rust belt, not once... their entire message was red meat that would motivate your base in a heavily R state or district... its a campaign you would run in GA or AR if you wanted to motivate turnout.... it was not the kind of campaign message that was ever going to motivate the non traditional R voter (Trump I and D voters) to show up.
