“That’s why NOT so many people go to theaters these days.”
The biggest reason fewer people go to the theater these days is that pretty much every movie is easily accessible for “free” online as pirated content.
This is not being done so openly as Napster (which did the same thing to music album sales), but college-age students, who don’t have a lot of money, are savvy enough to get bootlegged movies and share with their peers. As this demographic gets older, and a new generation of teens and college-aged movie consumers come along, the impact will be even greater. This phenomenon is having an impact worldwide.
What you describe is very localized. There are theaters that have rowdy crowds that chase off other patrons. When theaters fail to put a stop to this, a large segment of their customer base go elsewhere. Or, as you suggest, they stay home.
A couple of other significant factors are the amount of dreck that Hollywood cranks out and the shrinking attention span of video content viewers. Hollywood is often out of touch with what consumers want. Also, a new generation of video watchers get bored so easily that it is hard to hold their attention for a feature-length film. These would rather spend hours on social media or viewing short videos on YouTube in a modern channel-surfing way.

If BLACK PANTHER doesn’t set new box office records, be prepared for a tsunami of lectures in the mainstream media about how this proves how raciss Americans are.
I think it’s going to break records the first couple of weeks. Where will it stand in a couple of months? Who knows.
I think if it were just about the typical white guilt / black empowerment via lies and propaganda it would flop. It is however wrapped in the world of super hero fantasy where anything can happen. This genre has a TON of fans.
It will do well. Whether in the end it’s the biggest Marvel movie ever is yet to be seen.
Over seas will not do gangbusters.
It will set records for February though. It’s already has the most pre-sale tickets on Fandango than any Marvel movie.

I think this is a plot by the enemy to hype this thing up, have it fall, and then they can say yep, I knew it, America a racist hatin’ nation after all.
I was definitely going to watch this movie when first announced and previewed in trailers..then the actors and others turned it racial. They had to open their fat mouths. Now, not a chance.
I have found that the rating on RT tend to skew much higher when the subject matter or general theme of the movie is something to which the sjw's gravitate.
Any slavery-themed movie will get a rating in the upper 90's while American Sniper received a rating in the 70's.
“What if it just sucks?“
The press will still glow about it and it will be elected for a second term. Anything else is racism.
I plan on seeing it, but I see most of the Marvel movies. I'll judge the movie based on.. on how good it is, or not. Just because I am anti SJW doesn't mean I want or expect the movie to suck.

I won’t go to the movies anymore because Hollywood has made it clear how they feel about Christian conservatives. I’m not paying anyone so they can insult me. I’m done with those losers.
How many Marvel movies are there?
If the movie succeeds, that will be portrayed as a triumph over Bad White People.
If the movie fails, that will be portrayed as the fault of Bad White People.
