And you do of course realize that James Garner was a flaming liberal, correct?

Nope I think he was a Conservative that supported Liberals and Liberal cause. He loved the Clintons, hated Unions.

#12 James Garner book had comments at the beginning about how great obama is and will be. I could not read any further and tossed the book.

Impersonator comics are in Vegas.

I don’t think late night chat shows (or talent competition shows) go for that kind of entertainment these days.

By the way, have you ever heard Sammy Davis Junior’s impersonations?

David Bowie could do them too

Yep

Garner is what he calls a “bleeding-heart liberal,” having participated in the 1963 civil rights March on Washington and later advocating for a number of progressive causes. He voted for Dwight D. Eisenhower in 1952, he writes, but never cast a ballot for a Republican again. He voted for Adlai Stevenson in 1956, and calls him “the most intelligent presidential candidate we’ve ever had. I think Obama runs a close second.”

He’s also critical about Charlton Heston — either as an actor or defender of civil rights. As Garner describes it, Heston appointed himself leader of the Hollywood group that went to the March on Washington, and even tamped down a suggestion by Marlon Brando that the performers chain themselves to the Lincoln Memorial. But the next year, Heston switched parties and backed Barry Goldwater. - Variety, 2011

Garner was never even close to being a Republican.
Barely had a high school education, into smoking dope and a Hollywooder to the end.

Figures. Hollywood. I’m sure folks still like some Mel Brooks movies. Talk about an insane flaming liberal.

I am also reminded of Andy Griffith acting like a drooling goober pimping Obama and Obamacare, to boot.

[That was before the liberal and Mexican invasion.]

And we didn't know what a Barack Hussein Obama was.

Of course, we still don't know exactly.....but, speaking of impressions......

I think just about everybody on your list was not a
Republican although I’m not sure about Matthau. At
the time Little might have been referring to those
who he had grown up watching in movies like Wayne,
Hope, Benny, Stewart, Ford, Shore, Grant, etc who still
were around in the 70s. Those on your list were mostly
sort of Little’s contemporaries. He probably wasn’t
even thinking about them.

I am also reminded of Andy Griffith

Andy was a lot more Lonesome Rhodes than Andy Taylor.
