The Cruz true-believers did take it a little too far. It began to seem like a religion toward the end. When the Cruz-Roe team began stealing delegates Trump had already won, I expected some of his supporters to object. But they just cheered him on, arguing that his ability to poach delegates merely demonstrated his intelligence and talent.
Too creepy for me. Trump is well rid of Bannon. He brought nothing good to the administration.
Your Cruz-involved scenario would not surprise me at all. Cruz used his prime speaking slot at the convention to try to throw the election to Hillary. I wouldn’t trust him for the time of day.
Yep Bannon is a loose cannon. He cannot and should not be trusted. I am appalled at the people here still defending him for his actions.

I am not happy it turned out this way, but it is what it is.
I don’t think people are defending Bannon but are asking who is going to take his place? Pres. Trump has said he is all in for the GOP incumbents in the primaries. The same people that have been obstructing him every step of the way. It’s a big mess and everyone needs to look at the big picture here.
Bannon is done. No longer needed. He has won nothing. He has done damage instead of doing good. There are others whom are not self serving backstabbers out there.
Truth is, he is easy to replace. Anyone can find a Judas out there. They are all over the place!

Really? Who? Post a speech by a Republican that is pro America first, is about protectionism and is as articulate as Bannon about economic nationalism. Just one please.
Bannon has rarely been heard. Most people don’t even know who he is. He is a legend in his own mind and maybe yours.

I understand your concern, but here is where I think Trump is demonstrating his truly unique genius. Although it goes against the impulse that we all have to punish the GOPE who have betrayed us over these many years, it seems clear that Trump’s strategy has been to win over the GOPE rather than have an all out war with them. and it seems as if he’s finally succeeded to a large extent.
It may be a little hard to swallow, because these same GOP Senators and Representatives who Trump appears to have finally corralled and who actually passed an epically good tax cut bill that repealed the individual mandate, and opened up ANWR, are the same politicians who would be stabbing us in the back if Trump hadn’t won.
But Trump doesn’t worry about that. He just cares about results. My guess is that he figured long ago, that it would be a lot easier and quicker to win the GOPE over rather than to have an all out war with them. A little hard to swallow, I know, but the best strategy if results are what matters most.
That’s why Trump’s leadership abilities are so rare. Assuming, for the sake of argument, that Bannon’s intentions were all good, he clearly lacks Trump’s rare ability at figuring out how to win the fight. If you think in terms of warfare, Bannon’s approach of a full on assault against GOPE incumbents was as crude and unrealistic as walking straight into a line of musket fire, and with about as much chance of succeeding, just like all the efforts we saw from the Glenn Becks, Mark Levins, Michelle Malkins, etc. of the world during the Obama years.
So Trump seems to have found a way to win over most of the
GOP with a combination of carrot and stick. He understands what makes politicians tick. They like to feel important, and they want to be re-elected. Trump has finally shown them that he’s their path to reelection, not the lobbyists, and they’ve finally decided to hitch their wagon to him.
