Im reminded of the Huntingtons smash hit, How Can I Miss You If You Wont Go Away?
Xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
Hmm. I thought that was an old dan hicks tune??
It’s like trying to get rid of black mold.

It appears the Huntingtons recorded it in 1998 -

If it’s the same song - I don’t know either artist/group.
“appears to be the longest ongoing adios in modern history.”

“He’ll step down or he will be a hot topic for election day 2018 if the Dems rally around him. Either way we win.”

Yeah! I’m hoping he fights to stay in!
More like a brown trout swimming in the porcelain bowl who doesn’t leave on the first flush.
I heard that if he stays into calendar year 2018 he qualifies for more gubmint benefits.
Of course, that’s it. Another year of Government “service” in the books, theoretically.
He’ll be gone Tuesday.
Minnesota flags at half staff...
I would bet anything that he chose the date of 2 January 2018 as it will undoubtedly enhance his Pension and Benefits as a former Senator.
Yep - Dan Hicks and his Hot Licks....
Good point
No, he's already vested for pension. Retiring January 2nd doesn't make his pension any more lucrative than retiring on December 30 would.
Like what? He's already vested for pension and 401k.
Federal pensions don't work that way. If I started work for the federal government on December 31, 2013 I don't become vested as of January 1, 2018. I become vested December 31, 2018 after exactly 5 years. There is really no difference between the pension Franken would get if he retired December 2nd of 2017 and the pension he will receive for retiring January 2nd of 2018.
Waiting until January 2nd might make a difference in cashing out vacation but I don't think Senators get paid vacation.
. . . course anyone who believes in term limits would consider pensions for senators/representatives to be anathema in any event.
Dan Hicks had it out in early 70’s
