In seven years, we will be on that path.
I read the whole horribly disturbing article to find one word...
“Socialism”
Does not exist in the article.
We should fill up several container ships with food and meds and anchor offshore Venezuela. Then tell them to send us Madura’s head and will off load.
> In seven years, we will be on that path. <
I don’t know about the seven years, but you’re right. Lots of folks here are knocking the Venezuelan electorate. But the US electorate is no different. Everybody wants free stuff. Everybody votes for free stuff.
The only difference between the US and Venezuela is that the US is in a slow-motion collapse. Too many entitlements. That bill will come due.
To oldexpat: Bingo!
The Venezuelan government has used food to keep the Socialists in power, critics say. Before recent elections, people living in government housing projects said they were visited by representatives of their local Socialist community councils the government-aligned groups that organize the delivery of boxes of cheap food and threatened with being cut off if they did not vote for the government.
Leftists in this country are taking notes.
"Women line up at sterilization clinics to avoid having children they cant feed."
It’s actually a good move.
The ultimate nature of fiat currency is that it has no value. It’s good for growing governments and those that live off of the churn. It’s bad for savers and ordinary people.
As for gold, that folks come back that it’s value is arbitrary, well so what?
Does that mean replacing it with something that only and is expressly of arbitrary value is an improvement?
In this the folks who peddled fiat currencies were in good company with those that advanced Arbitrary government and Administrative Laws over Common Laws ... again, replacing one thing that is deemed arbitrary with something that is expressly arbitrary and could only ever be so is a good game to play for those who never deserved to be trusted in the first place.
"We, the People" must--in order to support whatever efforts the current Administration has accomplished and will continue to attempt to accomplish--begin a massive effort to educate the minds of youth regarding the Founders ideas and principles of liberty.
If they continue to be propagandized by the cultish Progressive teachers, professors, and entrenched media that "redistribution" of the earnings of their hardworking parents by elitist politicians in Washington-- who seek little but votes--is a sure and certain path to an America like the Venezuelan example playing itself out right now.
By the way, why don't Americans who understand the nature of liberty and its relationship to a "free press" become involved in education programs like those of Hillsdale College and other sources which explain the ideas of liberty vs those of tyranny underlying our Constitution?
I’m not mocking the theory, I believe gold is real money. But I certainly wouldn’t believe Maduro. They nationalized the oil companies and ruined their oil production, and anyone that would believe and trust maduro is backing the currency with gold is a fool.
I wouldn’t mean to suggest you had mocked.
It is perchance not coincidental that while the Cultural Marxist, who exist to commit cultural suicide, may mock the idea that specie is money at all when it comes to REAL socialist and communist who hope to endure (despite what we recognize as their bad ideology) they seem to understand that gold and silver are the fall back for when they need hard cash.
As for the rest, I fall back to an old Soviet era joke that if the Communist were in charge of sand in the Sahara it would soon become a scarce commodity.
:-)
I have limited compassion for these people.
15 years ago, the now suffering Chavistas were taking to the streets with organized gangs intimidating and beating the hell out of any who dared oppose Chavez.
