Wilberforce did not compromise on his principals.
Agree. I think the compromise talked about about in the article is for Alabama voters who may believe the accusations. Then, would it still be right to vote for Moore. Greater good sort of thing, I guess.
I was thinking more about Martin Luther King. The man was essentially a male whore. But would anyone say that takes anything away from his political legacy?
“Id agree with that with on caveat: Wilbeforce repented and sought forgiveness. Moore has done neither, at least publicly. That may be because the accusations are not true, but it is a difference.”
Well why throw your pearls before the swine? And forgiveness? Certainly Wilberforce sought forgiveness from the Lord for whatever deeds he had done.I’m not sure it was necessary for him to recount to every man (or woman) his failures and indeed I doubt he did so. While someone might look at the denial of alleged moral failures committed/omitted over 30 years ago as (even if true) problematic I am concerned now with his moral standing and his standing on key conservative values that are under siege.
Yes. Exactly. So you’ve made your moral calculation on it, which is the one I would make. But seems to me not everyone in Alabama is there yet. Although my two cents is that he will win still.
Who cares if all the whores call you a slut?
And Ive been a Freeper a long time, dude. I just hibernate at times.
