Ever hear of Metallic Silhouette competitions?
Shots are made regularly at 200 meters on steel targets with iron sights.

[What hunter in their right mind would try for a 200 yard shot with a pistol?
The challenge with a pistol hunt is the stalk, until you are close enough for a clean kill. 75 yards, MAX! A large, slow bullet with a trajectory like a rainbow.]

Ask a metallic silhouette shooter. Most of whom are also big game hunters. Its all based on ability.

After reading on it, I found there are those who shoot postols at long range. I also discovered that few are accurate and many use their misses to walk their rounds closer to their target.

Five freaking words...
The comment was directed at the stupid story, about a guy shooting a target HE COULD NOT EVEN IDENTIFY at dusk, from 200 yards with a pistol in the woods,
without setting up the shot in advance. I don't buy it, and I don't care about your pedantry, or your cousin who shot a gopher from a mile away with a pellet pistol... The reason there are YouTube videos of people making pistol shots at 200 yards is because it's remarkable... Worthy of documenting.
Nobody posts YouTube videos of hitting a 200 yard stationary steel target with a 7mm rifle from sandbags (Because it's EASY).
