Exactly. I didn’t expect a proper journalistic article from this source or most anymore. You have to look at the city beat journalists for good writing. The quote you provided above told me why Grassley’s move is essential and gave me hope that Grassley is taking the long view as Trump certainly seems to be.
Someone above mentioned Grassley may be aiming to replace old no-chin. Couldn’t be worse. Is Turtle’s wife still in the Cabinet, hmm?

Yes, but we have all of 2018 to move more Conservative Judges onto the Federal Bench, and along with praying that Trump manages to keep the Senate, we should be offering up prayers that at the minimum, Justice Kennedy will retire soon, and that Ruthie and Breyer will either choose to retire, or be forcibly “retired” by reason of their “passing on!” The current short list Trump has for candidates for the SCOTUS, should make everyone cheer, because as I recall nearly all of them are under 50 and some are as young as 36. If Trump accomplished nothing more than another two or three Supreme Court Justices, he will have given this country more than any president in modern history.

Yes, we do, but only if they beat any more qualified challenger in their respective primaries. And where we have that in prospect already, (i.e. with Flake and Corker)
we must make sure that their replacement isn’t just a carbon copy of the jerks they are trying to replace. Example: Don’t let Martha McSally win Flakes seat. She would be a difference without a distinction.

The judicial swamp is far and away the worst and most corrupt aspect of the entire federal government. Many of these judges become lifer tyrants answering to nobody and foisting their unconstitutional judgements on the entire nation, often throwing out millions of popular votes as if they were pieces of trash from the serfs.
The antiGOPers on FR just don’t seem to get it. Many of them spend more time attacking republicans than attacking the RAts and liberfarians.
Grassley is another great republican. He doesn’t personally like Trump, but he is doing the right thing for the country. Here is a bit more of the story:
Late last week, Grassley decided not to honor a Senate tradition of holding up hearings for judicial nominees who aren’t cleared by their own home state senators. That tradition is known as the “blue slip courtesy” born out of time before nationwide communication technology when a given state’s senators had access to much more information about nominees than their colleagues from the rest of the country. Grassley correctly noted that Democrats were now trying to use the blue slips tradition to replace the filibuster, and he’s having none of that. As recently as last month, the Democrats and much of the news media’s punditry were expecting Grassley, who is no fan of the president, to keep the blue slip tradition in place. But Grassley gave Trump this very special gift instead.
And that brings us to the Democrat who provided the initial generous source of President Trump’s solid triumph: Former Senate Majority Leader, and Democrat, Harry Reid. Reid is a major reason this good fortune has befallen President Trump because Reid was the one who killed the filibuster rule for judicial nominees in 2013. And when he killed it, it was gone for good.
Republicans were powerless to stop a series of President Obama’s judicial nominees after that. That is, until they won control of the Senate in the 2014 elections. The GOP may have failed at using that majority to achieve much, especially making even a dent in Obamacare. But they were able to freeze the Obama nomination process in its tracks, most notably by delaying and eventually killing Merrick Garland’s nomination for the Supreme Court.
That long period of confirmation obstruction has given President Trump a huge number of seats to fill; twice as many as President Obama’s also large number of vacancies when he took office in 2009. The Christian Science Monitor reports this is likely the most vacancies for a president to fill in 40 years. And the Trump team hasn’t been wasting much time.
For those who believe President Trump won the 2016 election thanks to a series of Democratic Party errors, this is cut from the exact same cloth.

Really appreciate your sharing of valuable knowledge and also happy to hear that Reid really f’ed up big time. Couldn’t happen to a bigger crook.
Target a couple specific Rinos in the primary. Part of a winning strategy in the primary is to be able to unite the other candidate’s voters behind your candidate when he wins the primary.
Clinton made a major tactical mistake in attacking voters as deplorable. We should not make the same tactical mistake.
Win the primary, win the general. That is not done with the pouting of a 2 year old. It is done with good strategy and tactics, with hard work and smart work.
