But is there anyone that knows how to steer them? Evidence would point to maybe not.My grandfather was First Lieutenant on the Bunker Hill during WWII. He was one of four officers qualified to conn the ship, and also trained the crew extensively in damage control. He has to be spinning in his grave over what the Navy has become.

I full agree with you, no politician should be the subject of hero worship.

Yes, but at least an aircraft carrier can run over most ships, unlike a destroyer.

Asians better take heed. The US is serious. NKOR needs to be de-weaponized, silenced, and taken off line. The next step should be to destroy NKOR crops...something to make them pay attention.

Grass is part of Nork crops. Roundup would be effective.

Is all this only meant to Shock, Awe and intimidate Kim Jong Un?
Or is something about to happen?
If there is any ‘action’ about to come down, I suspect nothing will happen until the President is gone far from that part of the world.

Well, in my experience as a Seabee Warfare Qualified Chief, and experience in both Somalia and the former Yugoslavia (Croatia, Bosnia), I see the officer corps as 70% inept and 30% good men. I hope you’re one of the men, cause the rest of your team are rank sucking, back stabbing, spoiled assholes, no better than NFL Players who take a knee. Maybe you noticed at Ward Room meetings? My expectations have nothing to do with what the officer corps does, or doesn’t do. I couldn’t GAF. I expect Senior Enlisted Chiefs, Senior Chiefs and Master Chiefs to perform at a level that makes the officer corps a non-factor. I want, as you should want, these knowledgeable folks to DO THEIR JOBS, and not let some lax command structure end up killing our people.

In the mid-eighties we took a NIMITZ class through the English Channel at O-dark-thirty, 30kts, launching and recovering in fog and rain - because we could.

A landlubber here, but I could not help but feel disgust at “USS Gabrielle Giffords.”
Bring back the names of US Navy “ships of the line.” Thanks.

We could build the next carrier group at much lower cost. Name the ships after members of Insane Clown Posse, GWar and the like. Then, lower standards for recruits a little more and nuke the enemy in color. Well, okay, lower standards than that. Call it the trailer trash fleet.
