What evidence did the FBI colect to substantiate these claims? I’ve heard there are audiotapes of King having sex with prostitutes. Photographs? Perhaps. The full King FBI file won’t be released for years to come. If Dems control things, it’ll be deep sixed forever.
Hoover used the FBI to control potential opposition. He certainly had the goods on the Kennedy brothers.
Oral sex was an ‘unnatural act’ at the time. Certainly lesbianism was. Not clear what act is being referenced in the file.

Some of this has been released in various forms, esp. the Levinson congressional testimony (it was in Executive Session, then released from its secrecy).
Levinson was a KGB money-handler/investor for the Communist Party USA. This came out of his testimonies. The surprise is, for historians, that Levinson wrote the April 1967 Riverside Church (Rev. Sloan Coffin, an avowed Viet Cong supporter)speech.
I knew it was written by a communist. Thought it might be Jack O’Dell (literally a lifelong advisor to King and then Jesse Jackson’s Operation Breadbasket; Operation PUSH; and the Rainbow Coalition, in which he acted as the “Director of International Relations” including to Assad’s Syria re the release of US pilot Goodman shot down in Syria/Lebanon in 1983). O’Dell was a key player in the pro-PLO organizations, including a couple set up by James (Jim) Zogby and his brother. They included the Palestine Human Rights Campaign and its fundraising fronts for Palestinian Mayors, Political Prisoners, etc.
O’Dell was also in Zogby/Sen. James Abourezk’s “ADC - Arab-American Anti-Descrimination Committee”, literally a precursor to CAIR, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holyland Foundation (fundraising for the PLO/Hamas) case.
O’Dell was also involved in all the various united communist fronts/Communist Party USA-controlled “Mobilization Committees to End the War in Vietnam” and its successor, the Peoples Coalition for Peace and Justice, which later reemerged as part of the CPUSA/Marxist dominated “Mobilization for Survival” in the 1980’s opposed to the US placing cruise missiles, Honest John missiles and other weapons in Europe to stop a possible Soviet invasion of West Germany.
The key word in the King speech at Riverside Church in April 1967 that tipped of people in the know that it was written by a communist was the phase that “the U.S. was the greatest PURVEYOR of violence in the world”.
That line came out of a Red Chinese speech, possibly one of either Lin Piao or Chou En-Lai (about Sept. 1965), that announced their planes to aid “wars of liberation” around the world. I believe it was Chou En-Lai’s speech because Lin Piao was on his way out of power in their internal fight to control the Communist Party of China (CPC). Piao was killed in a mysterious plane crash while on official Party business about late 1965 or 1966 (not totally sure about those dates).
Another surprise was that Levison was till an active CPUSA and possible KGB operative or asset as later as 1967 thought you wouldn’t know any of this if you read the Wash. Post back then.
O’Dell was active in Jesse Jackson’s presidential campaigns in 1984 and 1988 (the latter one causing a lot of division and consternation among liberal Jewish supporters because of the ardent support for the PLO in its war against Israel, a program position written by Jack O’Dell, which actually did show up in a 1988 Wash. Post article about this division).
Just for bragging rights, I gave the late and very powerful Democrat Party liberal thinker and donor, Robert Nathan (War Production Board, Robert Nathan Associates), a study on O’Dell which I had done for a newspaper. I had been part of a small meeting with him over the tremendous amount of anti-Israel biased reporting in the Wash. Post (and NYT), and when I mentioned that O’Dell was behind a lot of the above-mentioned groups/efforts, he asked for the study.
His last words to me were “I’ll take care of this”.
Interestingly, which I didn’t meet Nathan again, a man I admired for his forcing FDR and cronies to face the extent of our enemies in WW2 and demanded in a position paper that the U.S. prepare to wage “total war” against the Axis Powers (a little history for you history-buffs).
Nathan was, much later on, part of a Deposition group concerning just how much power the U.S. Government had during the war to control war production mobilization and industries. I was involved with his opponent, the late great Gordon Lincoln, another WPB leader. The issue concerned industrial pollution caused by the mobilization and who was going to clean up the facilities/sites.
Both were great men who wanted only the best for America and politics never entered what they did during WW2.
Re Dr. King’s sexual antics, they were well known to American intelligence and it was feared that the Soviets/KGB would blackmail him over them (re his position on Vietnam, etc).
While King once denounced “communism” as harmful to America and Black Americans, with his being caught in a CPUSA/KGB “sandwich” of Levinson and O’Dell, plus some of the others on this FBI’s report, Wyatt, Jones, Reddick, I don’t think that the communists actually had to blackmail Dr. King. They already wrote his speeches, financed some of his operations, gave him advice, etc.
In other words, he was long “compromised” even without any real or potential sexual blackmail.
Some of this can also be found in Prof. David Garrow’s series of books on Dr. King, esp. “The FBI and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.”, but those books only skimmed some of the true identities of those surrounding Dr. King and their influence on him. Garrow didn’t know enough about the CPUSA and its operations to connect all the dots, but I give him credit for trying.
I suspect there is more in the FBI files that will not be released for another 25-50 years, esp. as long as his wife and children are still alive.

It was nice to have high friends in high places, and what they told me long ago was true, as this report confirms.
It took 20 posts but we finally have the salient question.
Furthermore how do we know any of this crap is true? Why - because some FBI file put together for J. Edgar Hoover says so? Might be true. Might not be.

True. We don’t know if true or not true... until we hear the audio recordings and see the photographs, which allegedly exist.

Looks like in 2027 we might see the transcript of the audio recording (King with prostitutes) or hear the actual tape.
