Well played, LibTaints.
For years I did a lot of communication tower work in and around Louisiana and the New Orleans area. It’s a great area but IMHO NOLA was never met to be there.
There are too many natural forces going against that city and it’s really just a matter of time before nature sweeps it away. NOLA is sort of a nice place to visit (in the winter time) but it is naturally destined to become part of the swamp that it sits upon. The slightest breakdown of any bit of infrastructure put in place to keep that city dry (and at 20-something feet below sea level) will eventually fail & in all probability at the worst possible moment. Levees break, pumps fail, raging storms will continue to hit it over the centuries or decades, and that City at some point in time will be underwater and there is nothing that can keep NOLA from slipping back into the muck. Despite the best effort and billions of tax dollars thrown at it.
Quick - rename the storm “Katrina.”
new Orleans is a dump and always has been...really needs a good flushing just to get rid of the smell of piss.
I remember National Geographic articles from decades ago that said the same thing.
Maybe they should not build a city below sea level?
Loved driving down federal 90 and seeing the houses built in the air. They seem to be ready for the storm surge. Not sure how they are set on power. If you live near that coast a hurricane is just fact of life. Since Betsy in the 60’s you just know strong weather is in the future some where.
