“3rd option and the one I’d be willing to bet on at this point:
S.S.R.I.’s”

~~~~~~~~~
That is one long-term fixation — with massive expenditures, equipment gathering and modification plus serious long-term planning — to be a SSRI effect/affect.
~~~~~~~~~~~~
SSRI’s have been shown to lower empathy and sense of right and wrong to the point of homicide. The fact that he planned and executed it methodically doesn’t negate that.

Apparently his prescription for (non-SSRI) Diazepam (Valium) was rather recent.

Obviously, the planning, prep, and execution of this attack took place over a considerably-extended period of time. Assuming he already had the weapons and ammo, he still didn't wake up a couple of weeks ago, ID a future gathering and schedule an overlooking suite, convert a dozen or so rifles to BumpFire, and put the whole act together in a few days.

My bet is that -- somewhere, 'way out in the desert around Mesquite -- someone will find a place with beaucoup expended brass, (maybe on an 100 meter-elevated firing position) where he tested, familiarized himself with, and perfected his technique on his BF-equipped rifles. And, given his meticulous nature, I expect he did that with each and every modified rifle.

All of that took time...

Given the time it takes for a SSRI to reach equilibrium effectiveness, how long ago would that SSRI have had to have been prescribed? (And, do you have a specific SSRI in mind?)

Lasting health effects of Valium

Chronic use or abuse of sedatives such as Valium is associated with:

Depression.
Aggressive behavior.
Cognitive deficits.
Psychotic experiences.

Your post assumes he would lapse in to and out of aggressiveness and psychosis or act immediately upon becoming psychotic. These symptoms do not say “temporary” in front of them. There’s also a good chance he was taking SSRI’s.

Drug use and deadly side effects is an epidemic in this country and it needs to be dealt with. Research “mass murder and ssri.” It’s not a theory, it’s well known in the law enforcement and health communities. I’m a true blue capitalist and have zero problem with profit motive, but the money being made by pharmaceuticals and media (advertising dollars) on drugs is enormous and clouds true reporting and retrospection.

It's not clear -- but are you equating diazepam ("Valium") with a Selective Serotonin Re-uptake Inhibitor ("SSRI")?

Their neurological effects are radically different...

Having said that, I would not want to be taking either [or any!] class of psychoactive drug!

Furthermore -- aside from one 50-tab prescription for Valium, I'm unaware of any other medication Paddock was taking -- so further speculation on my part would be just that ...speculation. And there's too much of that, already, IMO...
