RIP seniors. Jesus is awaiting you in your reward.

I lived in Hollywood, Florida as a child. The school I attended was the most advanced in the United States.

For anyone on the other thread, sorry about it being pulled.

When I copied the article, a whole bunch of nonessential stuff copied too and I didn’t catch it before I posted it.

So I reposted it and asked for that one to be deleted.

Your comments were valuable and fine. It’s nothing anyone but me did.

There was another family, three generations lived in the house.....carbon monoxide poisoning killed 3 of them and sent others to hospital....I suspect that their generator is also in play in this incident...

And there are warnings posted everywhere about that.

It’s a shame.

Looks like more people died from incompetence after Irma than from the storm itself.

Sensible people have backup power, fueled by oil, as a backup.

When the leftists tax oil to death, many more elderly will die, and that is their intention.

I used to visit a skilled nursing facility several times a week for a little over 5 years. Old people died there almost every week. Of course, if you cut off the air conditioning there will be in uptick in deaths, but it is not like those people are going to get better and go home. I hate to sound lie somebody who has a cold heart, but that is life.

We have a barn on our property and the generator would be run out there and the wire feeding the power TO the barn would be used to feed the house power FROM the barn in the event of a power outage.

AFTER the entire house had been disconnected from the power grid by shutting off the main breaker.

We are not going to be responsible for killing a utility worker who is trying to get our power restored by backfeed.

No, you don’t. That is true.

Did you ever read the book *One Second After* about an EMP taking out the power grid? He has a scene in that book that deals with that very issue.

A little before 4:00, Liz Clayman was reporting Fox had heard from a “reliable source”, that they are taking out SO many bodies from the Keys. Have heard nothing since then, though.

I’ve had one or more generators since we had a huge blizzard here in E TN about 24 years ago. The first thing I did when I bought my first was to have the house wired so I could connect it to the main electrical power by an outside cable on the front porch. That cable runs to a transfer box connected to the main so I have to throw a switch to shift the house to generator power from the utility’s power. Fixing the system that way cost about $500 for the 5 kw generator and another $1,700 for the wiring. About three years ago I got lazy and had a fully automatic all house 36 kw unit installed. Big bucks but worth it over Memorial Day when we had a tornado that wiped out power for about 70 hours.

CO poisoning is a real threat if the user doesn’t keep the generator out of the house and have the house wired so it can be easily used outside. The central transfer switch is essential, too, because one’s generator can send power back up the line and electrocute a utility worker who thinks he’s working on a cold line and gets shocked. Big law suits can come from that kind of thing, too.

I’ll disagree about oil. The Best fuel for a backup generator (I have a 36 kw unit, so I’m speaking from direct experience) is propane, which doesn’t contain additives and doesn’t break down over long storage the way diesel fuel can.

Horrible. From what I understand, there was a hospital just across the street? (Probably with power - A/C, etc. - via a generator)

Didn’t the employees abandon a whole nursing home in New Orleans during Katrina?

Plus the nice thing about a propane generator is that they cycle on once a week for 15 minutes to keep everything working properly. Then if you lose power they turn on almost immediately.

My daughter/son inlaw have one at their house. I have a Honda 7500 watt gasoline generator. It is wired through a transfer switch and panel that runs pretty much everything except the clothes dryer.
