These vehicles can get retitled in other states, huge caveat. If buying a vehicle and you are concerns about this, make the owner prove that it was not in Harvey
Insruance total outs will all have flood stamped on the title. Tx salvage titles are very easy to spot.
“Check for fish in the trunk......”
Also check for wetbacks.
I’ve got a Harvey Hooptie. :-(
Sorry, but my Jeep gets flooded every other weekend or so cuz I drive it into the water, mud, snow, leaves, rocks, sand and anything else that is in the way. Water over the rails, waist deep INSIDE while driving.
I power wash it out and let it dry. Rinse. Repeat.
Works just fine. That’s what Jeeps do.
Now I don’t know about using a hose on a Hyundai . . . ???
Eric Peters’ web site is worth a regular visit. I came across it initially because of my passion for bikes. Which I am again indulging after a 40 year hiatus.
Car Fax will be overwhelmed for the next 10 years. IMO.
CarFax will be making money hand over fist because of this.
Check for rust streaks inside door wells, under the dash, coming out of the radio, in the lowest part of the trunk.
Check the rear differential for “milk” colored oil. Check for trash in the crank case or milky colored oil. Trash will eventually will be picked up in the oil pump and can plug up the lines.
Check to see if electric windows work, often they will not.
Remember, some oil seals are designed to keep oil IN not water OUT. That is the job of the hood.
See if it has an ARKANSAS TITLE. Missouri scrap dealers found they could rebuild wrecks and clean flooded cars, then send the car down into Arkansas where, for $50 dollars they could get a completely new title showing the car had never been wrecked or flooded.
***A salvaged car can be retitled but only as a used car. ***
Not in ARKANSAS! For $50 you can get a nice “clean” title showing the car has never been wrecked or flooded.
The company I worked for bought a brand new ARKANSAS car for the boss to use. A brand new car, off the show room floor.
One day, months later, I noticed a slight variation in paint colors for the rear of the car as opposed to the front, and mentioned it to a supervisor.
When the plant mechanic examined the car he found the entire back end of this BRAND NEW CAR had a thick layer of BONDO on it.
It had been wrecked, rebuilt, and still sold as new.

Run them to the Missouri scrap dealers. They will part them out, build one out of three wrecks, clean flooded cars,
Then run them into Arkansas and get a new clean title showing it had NEVER been in a wreck.
