Yes. The Brits and others brought them to the USA but the north had more than their share. They got the moral high ground when they realized they preferred cheap European labor. They didn’t have to house and feed the European families.
Slavery has a horrible history. It is sad it was ever allowed in the USA.
But I don’t believe most southerners sent their children off to war so wealthy landowners could own slaves. I certainly wouldn’t have gone to war for that. There’s no myth about that.

Sure, the town skews hard to the left, but there are all kinds in that town.
I would wager that nobody who works for Top Dog is a lefty.
Top Dog is rabidly libertarian. The walls are plastered with articles from AEE and The Freeman. It has been this way for decades.
Folks hear the name “Berkeley” and they assume the person is a lefty whack-job. I am telling you, if this guy worked for Top Dog, he was almost certainly a libertarian.

The first amendment restricts only government action. There is no right to free speech in a private place of employment.
But UVA did produce that idiot who went to North Korea and ripped the poster off the wall. It does get some credit for that, right? :-)
That is my take on it. This visual eradication of American history got its starts in academia. The left went after any institution that used Indians as mascots. Once they gained some success, it was on to bigger and better targets of opportunity. Past history often isn't pleasant. Trying to sanitize, hide, remove, and ignore it is a big mistake, IMO.
When will Berkeley change its name? It’s named for Bishop Berkeley, who owned slaves during the years when he lived in Rhode Island.
Sorry Beagle, This place has two locations in Berkeley, CA. He was not from either of the other Berkeley’s!
They don’t have to house and feed illegals, we do that for them.
Do something the left disagrees with, and lose your job.....But he did something the left DID agree with. He was PAID to go there and help with the impression the legal protesters started something. He just didn’t know who they were going to assign him to. BTW, where is the IRS in demanding taxes from the paid arseholes?
