That is why I drive a 2008 Lancer Evolution. Similar cars today are Focus RS, Golf R, and Subaru WRX STI. They are all 4WD, sub 5 seconds 0 - 60 and handle great. Base price on these cars are around $35K. And unless the Tesla is powered by hydro-electricity, the carbon foot print is likely to be worse.
Bashing Teslas for not being the perfectly cheapest option is stupid.
...
Yep. People who’ve actually driven or own a Tesla seem to love them, and according to Consumer Reports, they are number one in customer satisfaction. I also love that Tesla is battling the crooked dealer system.
My interest is in the acceleration. 0-60 in 2.28 sec, beating just about every street legal car in existence.
Only the $800,000 Porsche 918 Spyder can top it... until next year, when the $80,000 Dodge Demon arrives.
The Tesla S 100P goes 0-60 in 2.28.
The Tesla 3 under discussion is 5.5+ sec. 0-60.
The actual selling price of the Model 3 is more like $45+k.
How much did you pay for your 2.28 0-60 Tesla?
Still faster than the Nissan Leaf; mine had amazing acceleration as far as most drivers are concerned (enough to rip up tires fast).
“5.5+ sec. 0-60.”
You can get a great BMW that goes faster than that for less money.
People like to BS about Teslas. Compared vehicle to vehicle IN THE SAME PRICE RANGE, they are just another competitor. Take away virtue signaling and they don’t make sense unless the government coerces or rewards.
For a 300 mile trip, my 81/2 year old car is likely to get the destination sooner. It gets 22MPG highway and has a 12.5 gallon tank.
