He was just supporting the local economy. Yeah, that’s it. At 500 a pop. Just spreading the wealth.. a long-time tradition of the faux rich.
Now we know why they had a pro-Trump article the other day.
Snopes is dying of a totally self inflicted wound.
They are actually very good if the subject is not political or social but just plain facts. If it is social or political they are totally biased and have discredited themselves.
Odd is it not that the Washington Post did the same thing to themselves but Bezos stepped in and bought it and keep it afloat. The Mexican Billionaire Carlos Slim Helú did the same for the New York Times.
It is a common occurrence that men of incredible wealth earned via hard work, brilliance, and drive turn into leftists. Most think it strange but it is not.
These men turn their back on the capitalist system that gave them great wealth. These men and women want for nothing and never will. The drive, brilliance, and guts that gave them great wealth also wants great power. Socialism is the path to great power by the individual over the masses. Their actions are all logical but very wrong.
Perhaps Jeff Bezos will give Snopes a hand out. I hope not.
If not Bezos perhaps Bill Gates, perhaps Carlos Slim, perhaps Bloomberg, perhaps the Rockefeller Foundation, perhaps Elon Musk, etc. etc. etc.

I do commend Elon Musk in relationship to Space X. His Telsa Motors is a great success but without the insane government subsidies it receives Telsa would be dead meat.
Elon Musk is a madman that occasionally does brilliant things. Space X is great, but Musk should stick to rockets!
For those that do not know, he made his first fortune via founding pay pal. Which was a brilliant concept by a brilliant man.
I love it when people I’m arguing with online will send me a link to Snopes. If you go there, you’ll see that 90% of their sources are the Compost and the Slimes. Hahaha -

For the sake of your own credibility, you should change your conclusion from false to at least partially correct. In your closing paragraph, you state that those who promulgated the original claim began shifting the goalposts from four Democrats refusing to stand to how long they stood up. You go on to state that a more accurate description of events would state that Democrats stood for Gold Star widow, but maybe some of them didn’t stand and applaud as long or as much as some Republicans did. While it may be true that the headlines may be misleading, the reports that you reference acknowledge that the four Democrats stood during the introduction and first ovation, but then sat down.

Many of the texts we discuss contain a mixture of truth, falsity, and exaggeration which cannot be accurately described by a single “True” or “False” rating. Therefore, an item’s status is generally based upon the single most important aspect of the text under discussion, which is summarized in the statement made after the “Claim:” heading at the top of the page. It is important to make note of the wording of that claim, since that is the statement to which the status applies.

It is your credibility that is at stake. While it is important to make note of the wording of a claim, it is also important to fully review the nature of the claim, and give credit to the part of the claim that is true. By not acknowledging the portion of a claim that is not true, Snopes opens itself to charges of partiality and of not being a fully reliable source.

They’ve surpassed the $500K goal and will probably keep on fundraising, so they have bought themselves another 5-6 months anyway. If they can resolve their legal dispute favorably then they should be fine (too bad, ha ha).
