18 candidates ran in the primary... One quibble... it wasn't a primary, it was a special election. Whomever won 50%+1 would have won outright. Because so many Republicans ran, Ossoff almost won it in the special election. Because Republicans diluted their vote, the race was forced into a run-off that should never have happened.

On the other hand, a Handel win is not anywhere near the victory/mandate/endorsement the Trump team will claim it to be. It's called "Whistling past the graveyard."
Had Ossoff won by .01% it would have been trumpeted (sorry) as a "TOTAL repudiation" of President Trump's policies.
