I did the opposite when a highway rest stop was evacuated because of a scare here in NJ; I’d paid for our meals, and we were rushed out before we got our food. When I sent them images of the receipts they sent me a check.

Years ago there was a restaurant in Atlanta that caught fire, while being evacuated customers picked up their plates and took them to the parking lot to finish eating. When the restaurant reopened, many of those customers offered to pay for the meal they ate in the parking lot on the day of the fire. Iirc the restaurant was closed for months.

It was probably the OK Cafe, that place burned down 2 or 3 times.
