Good rundown and I think I understand..I could have looked it up....

“”(chiefly US, politics) An amorphous group of right-wing ideologies opposed to multiculturalism and egalitarianism by race and gender; often supportive of white nationalism and white supremacy.””

“”The alt-right, or alternative right, is a loose group of people with right to far-right ideologies who reject mainstream conservatism in the United States.””

There doesn’t seem to be a good definition of Alt Left? Does it exist?

I forgot the context of what Hannity was referring to. After 10 pm, I’m only good for reading - not remembering what I’ve just seen or heard.

I said many years ago that we (40 years +) folks needed our own planet as we just couldn’t adapt to the goings on in the sixties and Carter seventies etc. I labeled us and our friends dinosaurs. I’m even more convinced now - and a lot of water has gone over that dam since. I think most people my age are not alarmed to be at the end of the road - we can’t take much more of the “I thought I’d seen/heard it all”!!

I empathize with what you wrote. When Obama won the WH, it felt like the US had died. Those were dark dsys. Let’s hope for a rebound with Trump!

As for definitions, the Alt-right is frequently mischaracterized, likely for two reasons. A, Robert Spenser is a white supremacist who prominently claims the alt-right title. The MSM rushes full tilt onto that definition, since it suits their agenda. They’d like nothing more than to paint us ALL as racists. (But Spenser’s group is tiny, and by no means mainstream Alt-right.)

The second reason is even more sinister. In today’s world, Leftists love nothing more than painting conservatives as homophobes who want to criminalize people with whom they morally disagree. Not infrequently, they claim we want the death penalty for homosexuality.

Well then along comes the alt-right, embracing the LGBT community with open arms. This ruins the Leftist/MSM narrative completely. It actually ends up making Leftists hate the alt-right more than they hate traditional conservatives! I.e.: they see the alt-right as the greater threat. As a result, they lie about them every chance they get.

I’m unaware of an alt-left. To achieve that status, a significant number of liberals would have to reject at least one of the Left’s foundational values. For example, if a significant number of young Leftists embraced most of liberalism, but were passionately pro-life, you could call them Alt-left. So far, I haven’t heard of anything like that happening.

Just for the record, I don’t for an instant, at all support the Alt-right’s pro-LGBT position. I am a traditional conservative. (Just in case there was any doubt.)

Conservatives don’t need a heavy presence of cops to keep them peaceful.

I think I got from your explanation and what I found online, it would be a surprise to find any FReeper supporting the Alt-right...Can we start something called the “Nothing” party?

Lol! Maybe that’s the route that makes the most sense.

For the moment, I’m on the Trump train. Hopefully he’ll make big, positive changes in the DC culture. Time will tell.
