Congressional record can be and is ignored by MSM. If you didn’t see Phil Grassley on the empty floor reading into the Record on whatever channels have that tape on YT, you would not know he said anything, let alone the content of his speech.

MSM is the main gatekeeper. Until and unless a vast majority of Americans turn off the TV *news* and ignore the network *news* on the hour on radio, ignore NPR and seek out prime sources for as long as Google allows uploads to You Tube, the MSM is in the catbird seat and they know it.

Most of the YTers have had to forego montization to present truth online. Go ask the libs you still speak to if they have seen or read anything we have online. The ones I know reply they wouldn’t ever even look at any information online because everything online is fake. Then ask the casual Trump voter who calls themselves Republican. They tell me they are too busy, not smart enough to discern truth from lie and it is too confusing, so they rely on the TV presenters or the NYT or WaPO or WSJ or Economist.

It fries my last nerve, but that’s the situation.

Given the current political climate, a public meeting of the House Intel Committee would be covered live by every cable news network. Once it became clear what was happening, not even MSNBC would cut from the live feed. Most reading into the record is done for constituent relations, honoring a local veteran, celebrating a local industry, congratulating a local sports team, etc. That is why it is usually done to little fanfare and to a near empty chamber. Nunes performing a “how-do-you-like-me-now” mic drop of this caliber would play. Hugely.

Schiff would have a huge hissy and demand no press if Nunes did this at a Committee hearing. As you say, most reading into the Federal Record is done from the chamber and no one attends.

IDK. I do slip towards despair when I realize the stranglehold the media has on information.
