Boehner/establishment House leadership likely threatened campaign assistance and committee chairmanships, if they did not support Lyin. Several were removed from important committees, for other opposition, then replaced once folks pushed back.
Same old DC Swamp games that have kept ALL of them in office, for years. We have the same problem, in TX, trying to oust our louse Speaker Strauss. Too much $$/influence threatens those who oppose him.

True they did give their blessing to the Little Sh** as speaker but when it counted they stood up and said no.
If I were the HFC I would say to Mr. Trump we are more than willing to work with you on conservative issues to help America. However we will not support bad legislation. You are more than welcome to seek Democrat help if you think that is what you need to do. I would then quietly remind him, remember what you are doing when you need our votes again, as we are the ones that brought you to the dance. We are the one group that wants to drain the swamp, Ryan doesn’t and the democrats certainly do not want too so throw in with them at your own peril, see how that works out for you and then go to the voters and explain the sellout. The sellout to the swamp hurts you more than us Mr. President.
