This is a little dated and from a liberal source, but it gives some background on the Maryland Judge who ruled against the latest travel Executive Order. Additionally, J. Christian Adams was on Fox news describing the extremely unusual background of this judge since he had never served as a Judge or in the judicial system before his appointment. He was also described as an ultra liberal member of the DOJ Civil Rights Division who could find racism in anything.

The worst thing about the forum shopping here is the high likelihood that someone contacted the court making sure that they would get the result they desired ....... If the people behind this latest outrage communicated with this court following the filing it would considered an ex parte contact, a prohibited practice subjecting the person doing it to sanctions. What appears to be forum shopping and contacts with a court as may have occurred here are IMHO corrupt, unethical and completely Democratic in the greatest traditions of Tammany Hall, Chicago and wherever `rats are found.

PS An ex parte communication occurs when a party to a case, or someone involved with a party, talks or writes to or otherwise communicates directly with the judge about the issues in the case without the other parties’ knowledge.

But Chuang had strong support from Maryland’s two Democratic senators at the time, Ben Cardin and Barbara Mikulski.
