I just get very sensitive when I read anything critical of Christians and Jews these days.
There have only been three perfect human beings on the face of this earth and two of them fell. We’re all sinful and ugly things happen as a result, even occasionally in Christian religious institutions. My understanding of Christianity precludes the possibility of there being any such thing as ghosts but if there were such a thing Tuam should be haunted. Repentance and making what amends are possible after the fact, giving them a proper burial and memorial, is all that can be done other than vowing never again. That’s what can be done and what should be done. Lay them to rest and lay the matter to rest, that’s how I see it. Others disagree. Of course, I’m not Catholic so the impulse to defend isn’t quite so strong. I do see how those opposed to the Church are capitalizing and using this to turn public opinion in Ireland and the world further against it. It’s a difficult thing.
True. But Christianity and Judaism are under vicious attack by atheists and Islamists. I was raised Catholic but b e came a Protestant decades ago.
