What do groundhogs and Republicans have in common?

Both are scared silly of their shadows.

To make things work for America’s benefit a couple of mobsters need to take the geek from Kentucky for a ride.

We need to keep perspective on things. The best way to do this is to create a *timetable* of how things *have* to happen in Washington, D.C.

To start with, congress has a time limit in which they can easily repeal the huge number of EOs signed by Obama while heading out the door. If they do it in the time limit, it just takes a resolution in both houses. If they don’t make the time limit, these millstones are much, much harder to get rid of.

Congress has been too busy to even list what they have done so far.

Back to President Trump (I’m sure I’ve missed a bunch of things):

Day 1: an EO aimed at rolling back Obamacare. A Memorandum for the Heads of Executive Departments and Agencies — An order to halt any new federal regulations until they can be reviewed by the new administration. (1 EO, 1 Memo)

Day 3: Reinstates a policy that restricts US funding to nongovernmental organizations that provide abortions. And Withdrawal of the United States from the Trans-Pacific Partnership Negotiations and Agreement (TPP). And Institutes a freeze on the hiring of new federal workers, except for the military. (3 Memos)

Day 4: Expediting Environmental Reviews and Approvals for High-Profile Infrastructure Projects. 3 Memos expediting pipelines. Streamlining Permitting and Reducing Regulatory Burdens for Domestic Manufacturing. (4 Memos)

Day 6: Border Security and Immigration Enforcement Improvements. And Enhancing Public Safety in the Interior of the United States. (2 EOs).

Day 7: Protecting the Nation From Foreign Terrorist Entry into the United States (overturned by federal courts).

Day 9: Ethics Commitments by Executive Branch Appointees (limits on lobbying). Rebuilding the US Armed Forces — begin “developing a plan for new planes, new ships, new resources and new tools for our men and women in uniform.”
(1 EO, 1 Memo)

January 20: Declaring President Trump’s intention to repeal the Affordable Care Act. Regulatory freeze directing agency heads not to send new regulations to the Office of the Federal Register until the administration has leaders in place to approve them.

January 23: Reinstating the ‘Mexico City policy’ (abortion).

January 25: Cutting funding for sanctuary cities.

January 26: National School Choice Week Proclamation.

January 27: More intensive security checks for foreign nationals seeking U.S. travel visas.

January 28: Plan to Defeat the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. Signed a bill nullifying an Obama-era rule aimed at blocking gun sales to people taking Social Security.

Day 11: Reducing Regulation and Controlling Regulatory Costs. Organization of the National Security Council and the Homeland Security Council. (1 EO, 1 Memo)

January 30: CIA added to NSC.

January 31: Trump nominates federal appellate Judge Neil McGill Gorsuch.

February

Day 15: Core Principles for Regulating the United States Financial System. Repeal of Obama Fiduciary Duty Rule.

Day 18: Task Force on Crime Reduction and Public Safety. And Enforcing Federal Law with Respect to Transnational Criminal Organizations and Preventing International Trafficking. And Preventing Violence Against Federal, State, Tribal, and Local Enforcement Officers. (3 EOs)

February 3: Reviewing Wall Street regulations. (EO)

February 9: Changing the order of succession in the Department of Justice. Combating foreign criminal organizations engaged in drug and human trafficking. Reducing crime. Protecting law enforcement. (4 EO)

February 14: Signed House Joint Resolution 41, which wipes away a federal rule that requires energy companies to disclose royalties and government payments.

February 16: Signed bill to end the Obama coal waste rule.

February 24: Enforcing regulatory reform. Review of existing regulations for elimination. (EO)

Feb 28: Directed the EPA and the Army Corp of Engineers to reconsider the Waters of the United States rule. Promoting Historically Black Colleges and Universities. (2 EO)

March 1: Signs bills to promote women in STEM.

March 6: A new travel ban. Guidance for agencies to implement the new travel ban. (1 EO, 1 Memo)

March 8: (congress) Formal drafting of the repeal of the Affordable Care Act begins.

March 9: Pledges to remove certain regulations pertaining to the Dodd–Frank Wall Street Reform and Consumer Protection Act.
