From the angle of heirs, it really is far less important now for the Crown than a few years ago, as there are four more in line for it ahead of Harry (Charles, William, George, Charlotte).
It’s probably for royal peerage and ribbon cuttings. His brother, the Duke of Cambridge goes around the world traveling and doing royal events, etc.
I don’t think he was ever that concerned about the throne with this father and brother in front of him. And now that William has two kids, there are four in front of Harry so the need to produce an ‘heir’ is basically a non point.
I believe Camilla is a "Duchess", isn't she?
He doesn't need "an heir or two". After Elizabeth, there is Charles; after Charles, there is Prince William; after William, there is Prince George, after George, there is Princess Charlotte. Any children that either of these youngsters have in the future, would also be put before Harry.
Prince Harry is so far down the line, that it really doesn't matter if he marries this woman. She will never come close to the throne.
And then Peter went on to form The Who.
(Yes I know it isn't the same guy).
She could've been a backup singer in The Who? What a wasted opportunity of leading an at least *somewhat* productive life!
Princess Grifter
Damn you! All of 30 secs?
His wife will be the Duchess of _____.

Camilla is the Duchess of Cornwall.
However, it is not inconceivable that William's entire family could be taken out by terrorism if all are together at an event. Charles is not only old, he is not well respected by all and never will be because of Camilla; many call for him to step aside in favor of William even though that is not "constitutional". Bottom line, Harry needs to follow protocol. He is very well loved in the UK.
If he's already a Prince, why does he also need to become a Duke?

Royals can have many titles. The Queen’s husband is Prince Phillip, but he’s also the Duke of Edinburgh.
Duke actually outranks Prince in this case because Harry is only a Prince by virtue of being the grandson of the Monarch - it is a courtesy rather than a title that he holds himself.
If he becomes a Duke (which as has been said, we’d expect him to become on marriage) that will be his own title. It is also a title he can pass down to a son, and which could also be passed down to a Grandson, even after their entitlement to the title of Prince ceases.
(Any son’s Harry has will likely be Princes, because they will probably be male-line grandsons of a sovereign (Prince Charles as King, but his grandsons won’t be - however, they may still be the sons of a Duke, and the oldest may be a Duke - so becoming a Duke creates a title that Harry can pass on himself. This can actually be seen right now with the Duke of Kent - the current Duke of Kent is Prince Edward, Duke of Kent, who is a Prince because he is a Grandchild of King George V, and a Duke because he is the son of Prince George, Duke of Kent. His son will become Duke of Kent on his death, but will not be a Prince (and isn’t a Prince now - however he is Earl of St Andrews, because that is his fathers secondary title, and the eldest son and heir can hold such his father’s title as a courtesy (the next in line after the Earl of St Andrews is the Earl’s son, Lord Downpatrick who holds the Duke’s third title (Baron Downpatrick) as a courtesy. He can expect to become Earl of St Andrews on his grandfathers death, and Duke of Kent on his father’s death (assuming they die ‘in order’) but will be far away from being a Prince, as the great great grandchild of a monarch.)
she’s an actress, trying to act her best to win a title. I hope he dumps her.
I agree. There is something about her I find off-putting (not that it’s my business!), but I suspect he will marry this one. Ick.
It’s kind of amazing that some suitable and/or social climbing female from his milieu hasn’t snagged him as a husband by now.
Thanks for the detailed explanation. I doubt that I could’ve found an understandable explanation elsewhere and this was a question that I’ve had for a while.
