maybe if we cut California into five states, Alaska into three, Montana into three, and Florida into two (hey, the Panhandle is not like the rest of the sunshine state) Maybe cut Texas in half? I say we invade and seize Baja California! Make the Virgin Islands states and Guam—American Samoa—Maybe add Washington DC. Question—how do we get the new stars on the flag?

The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation has 57 members, 56 of which are also member states of the United Nations. Some, especially in West Africa, are – though with large Muslim populations – not necessarily Muslim majority countries. A few countries with significant Muslim populations, such as Russia and Thailand, sit as Observer States, while others, such as India and Ethiopia, are not members.

I think he is correct. There are in fact 57 entities for the DNC, including overseas territories.
There are 57 “states” in the Organization of Arab States.
All the American states, plus Cuba, China, Vietnam, Venezuela, and a few others.
it’s still not accurate for anyone to say The USA has 57 states.
territories etc are not states.
